LeapPad vs. any other technology

My DD loves using our phone and iPad apps, but I don't trust her w these. Should I get the explorer, leap pad or anything elsethoughts?????

Re: LeapPad vs. any other technology

  • We have the original leappad and both my kids love it.My oldest is 6 years old,and my youngest is 3.5.They just came out with the leapad 2 ,so I would recommend getting that one.It has faster processing,2 x more memory,a front and back camera, and u can now get a rechargeable battery pack where u don't have to use batteries,u just plug it in like your phone.

We bought an iPad used from a friend for our plane trip to Hawaii and it was great - DD really likes it and we use it too.

  • I just put a good case on my iPad and let DD use that.  The apps are a lot cheaper than Leap pad apps.

  • We have an otterbox on the iPad, but keep a close watch when the kids use it and don't let them use it in the car, etc. DD got the original leap pad when she was 2 and has loved and used it frequently since, DS loves using it too when she is into sharing with him. She loves that she can take pictures and videos just like on the iPhone and iPad, as well as watch videos and play games. Leap frog has amazing customer service too. As pp said, I would definitely get the new version with rechargeable battery pack... We eat through batteries real fast with ours now.
