This morning, even though it was his turn to sleep in, DH offered to get up with the kids since DD had me up every hour last night (Bad dream about a squirrel biting her fingers). I woke up around 9:45 to the sound of dishes being done and the smell of laundry being washed (we use Gain, I love Gain). When I came downstairs DH asked me if there was anything specific I wanted washed next, I said, DS's clothes needed to be washed in baby laundry soap and I gathered it all and sorted it into two loads and he said, "THere is soap in the washer already all you have to do is add the laundry." So I did so.
I was just about to transfer the laundry over to the dryer when I realized the baby laundry soap wasnt out but the carpet cleaner solution sure was out. It's kid safe and all that so I am not worried but I am rewashing the baby clothes.

I'd still give him a pass, that sounds like a very productive day for him
MH got a few dishes done... and is now messing with a friend's ps3 trying to get a game to work
DH's family is full of crazy intense laundry sorters, they have converted me to their cult. Allow me to describe the insanity that is how our laundry get's sorted. I am not kidding or exaggerating.
White clothes
Heavy Dark clothes (black, grey, jeans, socks)
Light dark clothes (black and grey t-shirts, yoga pants, underwear anything cotton (Must be separated from other clothes as you can't use fabric softener on Lulu Lemon or Nike pants without fear of turning them into velcro)
Blue clothes (includes purple and light grey)
Green Clothes (includes yellows don't ask why. MIL invented these rules and now I am obsessed with them, I am a total convert)
Red Clothes
Towels then get sorted by colour as we have white guest towels, red towels in the kids bathroom and green towels for our bathroom. Towels don't get included in the other loads as they make the dryer take too long.
Sheets (also sorted by colour)
Baby clothes sorted by light and dark.
DH once put dawn in the dishwasher. Whoa, bubbles a galore!
I actually use carpet cleaner in my clothes washer when I wash small rugs.
When my mom taught me to do laundry she taught me to separate lights and darks. I have since stopped bothering with even that. If we buy something that's red (or some other really bright colour, but that's rare) we'll do a load of reds the first time we wash it and then go back to washing everything together. We do wash our clothes separate from Lily's (different detergents, no dryer sheet for hers), and I do our bed linens as their own load and towels as their own load, but that's it. Your MIL would probably have a heart attack if she watched me do laundry, but we haven't ruined any clothing ever!
