XP: Shower Sling

I've never seen this. Has anyone used one?

Theory is you can shower yourself (always a good thing...) and bathe baby at the same time. All the while keeping baby close, and the water environment is supposedly a good bonding experience.

I am wavering back and forth. Part of me thinks this is a great idea. The other part imagines me slipping in the shower and going down with baby.

Re: XP: Shower Sling

  • That's interesting. I don't know how DS would like the spray of the shower. I've just taken a bath with him when I've gotten desperate enough. It was fun!

  • I have a mesh ring sling I use at the beach/pool although you could also shower with it - I never have but know others who do.  I would suggest getting a ring sling over the pouch style you linked.  A pouch isn't very adjustable and is very size specific - and you'd want a good fit in water, particularly with a newborn!  Sleeping baby productions and comfy joey among others sell mesh ring slings.
  • I've actually just brought lo in and let her sit in the bottom of the shower. She doesn't mind it and I just have to make sure she doesn't try to stand. It just depends on the age.

  • My son has never had a bath. He only showers with me. I love my shower sling, but its a ring sling from Taylor made slings.

ETA: I just realized I lied. He's had one bath but it was with me. Lol

  • I gotta admit--my shower is my sacred "me" time!  In all seriousness, I am a klutz and would be worried I would slip and fall or collide with the shower wall.  I would be much more comfortable getting in the tub with LO than the shower.

  • We love showering with our boys, and they love it too. It is SO calminf for little ones and just plain fun for older babies. Plus, I do not enjoy doing baby baths in the sink or bending over the tub, so this really works for me and my back issues. I do have the one you linked, but we don't use it. Pouches are really hard to get the right fit on. Instead, I made myself a water wrap (which you can also buy pre-made and much nicer). DS2 is only 10 weeks, so I use the wrap with him or put him in a baby bath hammock in a baby tub on the tub floor. DS1 can sit in the tub and play--I no longer wear him in the shower. We also use the water wrap at the pool.
  • I just hold LO in the shower, and after washing him, put him on his bath pad on the floor of the shower if DH isn't around to take him out. It works for us.
