Transitioning to a toddler bed

When if any did you transition your toddler to a toddler bed. My daughter is almost 2 and I just found out I am pregnant again and will need to make the switch before the new baby comes. I was thinking when she turns 2 but am now second guessing myself.

I think I did at about 20 months. However, my kid was also scaring me to death several times a night cause she climbed out of her crib and fell harder than she wanted on the floor.

My son hated his crib so we switched him to a toddler bed about a month ago (around 17 months). It's worked out pretty good for us.

Each child is different. I think it depends on your own perspective of how they will do. I did have to put a gate in front of her door because she would try to go into her baby sisters room. I also changed the door handle around so she couldnt lock herself in and made the room like fort knox.

Now her younger sister is definitely not ready at 20 months. She is not climbing out of the crib though and is doing fine in there.

We used a crib tent with my older daughter because she was climbing out of the crib at 18 months, but those are recalled and discontinued anyways so that is no longer an option.

If your child is climbing out of the crib than you really have to transition for safety reasons. You can even just put their mattress on the floor for the transition.

I just switched my son over. It's been a process and he still occasionally sleeps in the crib. I want him to be well transitioned to the toddler bed by the time the baby comes since I will likely put #2 straight into the crib.

We just transitioned DS last week. He is almost 23 months and has done amazing with his "big boy bed." In the week that we've used it he hasn't gotten out of bed once at night. Naps are a little harder but overall it has been much smoother than I anticipated.

We haven't made the switch yet - but at 2 years and 3 months (exactly) dd made her first trip over the rail of the crib (at nap time yesterday, this morning getting up for the day, and nap time today). She loves her crib, and asked to go in it when I put her down tonight, just like she has for months. So I'm hesitant to put her where she doesn't want to be to sleep, but I'm worried about her hurting herself climbing out. Bottom line, I'll be (reluctantly for me!) switching sooner then I expected.

We are transitioning DD to a "big girl bed" in November, right around her 2nd birthday. I'm pg and due in January.

I'm nervous as to how the transition will go because she has never tried to climb out of the crib or it is a battle to lay her down.

We just made the switch to a twin bed two weeks ago at not quite 20 months. It took one hard night but he adjusted right after that.

I moved DD to a toddler bed shortly before 16months just for the heck of it. (She had no want to get out of her crib) Just switched one night and she did great, she loves it!

13 months, right to a double bed. Her brother will be arriving when she's barely 17 months. We though we'd try to transition her well before his due date and see how it went. She did fine! First we took the mattress out of her crib and just let her sleep on that on the floor. Then we tried a few naps in the double bed in her new room, then a week or so later we tried her in the double bed all night and she was fine so we moved her to her new room! She's been sleeping in a double bed almost 2 months now.
