Of course like most of us in our "birth month" my DH and I just found out last week that I am pregnant! (do you like the use of the Bump acryo? just learned that..) I used the knot when we got married, but only most of the basic features. I have been browsing through this community and love the opportunity to reach out and learn from other in the same position. I don't know much about navigating this site, the cool timelines at the end of all your signatures, and most of all what to expect/do now Any suggestions are totally appreciated and thank you to all the active posters already, you guys are GREAT!
To be honest 34 week seems long but I am a planner.. I have pretty much spent every free moment online researching anything to help me get my head around this... What do I do when.. I have no idea...
I look forward to getting ready with all of you
Re: A ton of questions
This is the link to the tickers made by The Bump: https://global.thebump.com/tickers/
Choose which one you want, add all of the info it asks for, and then it will give you a long code at the end. Copy that code.
To add it, you go to your profile, click on the "Edit my avatar and signature" above your profile pic, and paste the ticker code in the box that says something like "Forum Signature" (beneath all of the avatar choices).

There is a bump glossary for the most common acronyms on the bump, you can find it by scrolling all the way down on the left under " my boards".
When you call to make your first appointment at your OB, it will likely be for a "nurse intake visit". They will go over your's and DH's family history, give you lots of information about what to do, what not to do, and timelines for tests, ultrasounds, and other things.
Good luck and welcome again!
Thanks! I had some medical complications, which ended up being completely unrelated (good news) and is how we found out. So I have already had a couple blood tests, an ultra sound (saw nothing), and a OB visit. My next visit is mid-nov for history. Then an US in mid-dec ~ wk 13/14.
How many US do you usually have? When do you find out gender?
Most mom's find out the gender between 18-20 weeks. You can see it earlier, but it's not as reliable.
The number of ultrasounds vary from office to office. Some do an early ultrasound for dating and some don't. You can have a NT scan between 11-14 weeks, which tests for trisomy 18 and 21 and that involves an ultrasound. Then the fetal anatomy scan which is also known as the gender ultrasound and then some providers do a late 3rd trimester ultrasound to make sure the baby is in the correct position for vaginal birth.
Also, if you are high risk, seeing an RE, or having any type of pregnancy complications, you will likely have more ultrasounds at that point.
