Hi, I know this is a personal decision to make but I wanted to see if anyone has gone through this and how you decided: If you had twins through IVF and want to try for another baby how many did you or will you transfer? Were you ok with the fact that you may have twins again? If you did, how did it work out?
Me: After many failed attempts I finally was blessed with twins through IVF. I am now 35 and my quality has not been the greated due to severe endometrosis/adhesions. We have been trying again for another baby and have had three failed attempts with in the last year or so. I am getting ready for a FET and I am not sure if I am going to transfer one or two. A chance of second set of twins makes me nervous but is also something we can make work. I just worry about bedrest and PTL. I also know that there is a chance I may never be able to have any more children. I am just so confused because we would love to have more children but we only have so many tries left. I have two frozen blasts right now, if neither take I am only able to do one more fresh cycle. Before having my girls I also did two but now for my FET and possible fresh cycle, do I continue with one or do two?
Anyone else in this situation or will be?
Thanks!

Your situation sounds very similar to ours. We tried for a child for 5 years, struggling with diminished ovarian reserve and endometriosis. Luckily, we got pregnant with twins through our first IVF. They're 15mos now and are such a joy. I'm 36 and we figured if we wanted another kid it was now or never, so we did a second IVF. I only got 4 eggs and only 3 fertilized. We decided to implant 2 even though we really didn't want twins again. I'm currently 10w pg with one. It was a difficult decision, how many to implant. In the end my husband said 'i'd rather have another set of twins than no more' so that pretty much made our decision. That said, it was such a relief to only see one sac on the u/s.
I think it comes down to being a very personal decision. You have to decide how averse you are to another set of twins compared to how much you want another one. We also knew we couldn't afford a third round of IVF so we had to maximize our chances on the second. And it worked out! Good luck!!!
3 FETs and finally success with IVF#2!
I'll be honest, I can't do twins again. I love my LO's to death but I can't go through another high risk pregnancy, likely NiCU time and everything that goes along with newborn twins. Especially with 2 toddlers at home.
We have decided we won't do treatments again when (if) we TTC again, but if we were to do IVF again we would be doing a SET.
It's such a personal decision and if you and your DH feel like its something you can handle both logistically and emotionally then I would transfer 2. But if there is any doubt or hesitation from either of you I would only transfer 1. Good luck with your decision & upcoming cycle!
