Hi My friend is looking for a medic alert bracelet for her three year old daughter that has epilepsy. curious if anyone has a suggestion. Something that is safe, can get wet, etc.
When ds was three, he had the sport style bracelet from the Medic Alert site. It was pretty cute, it had Orcas on it and the medallion had all his info and medic alert number.
My brother in law is an EMT, and I asked him one time what is the easiest Medical bracelet to spot. He told me that the Medic Alert ones are easiest for them because those are the ones that look less like jewelry. He does not recommend the pretty, sporty ones because at first glance they could just be kids jewelry.
My daughters have had Medic Alert bracelets on since they were 18 lbs. At ages 9 and 7 they cannot take them off without help.

Problem with anything but the sport style while they are growing is that the bracelets don't come in the small sizes, safety hazard, and are really difficult to adjust as they grow.
I disagree that the Medic Alert brand bracelets are too large for toddlers. We got our daughter the smallest band one (stainless steel, cheap style with pink logo) when she was 2.5 and it fit well, wasn't too large, and continues to be a comfortable choice for her. She never takes it off, b/c it is stainless she can wear it doing anything and since it is metal and not a sports band style, it doesn't get gross and wet if we are out swimming or at the beach.
I especially LOVE that this bracelet links to her medical history and Dr's info. She is deaf and uses cochlear implants so if we were in an accident and her "ears" fell off, she would be hard to communicate with and can't have MRIs or monopolar cautery...her bracelet says all of this, and acts like an id bracelet too so EMTs can find out who she is if we can't tell them= peace of mind.

I like several of the styles on that site. Haven't ordered any yet, though, so I don't have specific experience with any particular one.
