Being a human paci

Ever since DD had her 3 week growth spurt and she was eating 24/7, she has been using me as a human pacifier.  This isn't the worst thing in the world except I cannot go anywhere without her demanding me to sooth her with my boob.  She is only 4 weeks old, but I'm wondering what I can do to wean her of this as she will not take any type of pacifier.

Also wondering if it is too early to try to wean her of anything?

Re: Being a human paci

  • No advice, just wanted to say I'm in the same boat. When I take her off because she's just sucking she freaks out. DH can soothe her with his pinky, but the paci is hit or miss and if I'm the one holding her she demands the boob. Hoping someone else has some good advice!

  • Ugh. This is me right now. If I am holding DS and he is fussy he only wants boob to calm him/ put him to sleep. Right now he is sleeping/nibbling because he was fussing and DH and MIL gave up trying to soothe him so gave him back to me.

  • My DD will sometimes take the paci, but it's very rare. And when she does take it, it's only for a short while before she realizes it isn't a boob! I get no rest during the day because she won't be put down to sleep, she just wants to be on the boob all day long.

Hopefully there is someone with some advice who can chime in!

  • No help here either! DD will take a paci sometimes but when she is upset its always mommies boob that she NEEDS.  And everytime she is on my chest she is digging for them.

  • Ugh. Someone please offer advice on this because I am going through the same thing. He only wants to fall asleep chomping on my nipple.

  • Look up Pantley Pull-off and see if that helps.

Also, do you babywear? It doesn't help with getting a break, but when I'm out and about she is a lot happier when I'm wearing her.
