will couples adopt a baby that is a few months old or do they only want new born babies? the agency i called said they only place new borns and i just want a backup incase i cant handle things and decide to place later
The agency we're working with will place babies up to 2 years of age, I think (might be 3 years old). So, if you decide to place later, I know that you'll be able to find an agency or an attorney and a family that will be happy to adopt your child.
I would! and I know many others who would as well. good luck!

Yes! We told our agency that we would adopt up until 18 months. They said it is not common but there are situations where children are placed when they are older and they want to ensure they have the right families identified... Good luck with your journey
we just adopted our son at almost 2 years old- from Korea, though- not the US. :-) I would hope there are more people out there who are willing to give slightly"older" children a home.
As other posters have said, YES there are plenty of couples, singles, etc willing to adopt a child at almost any age. Welcome to the board, best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy and any future decisions you make.

Moved on to gestational surrogacy with a family friend who is our angel and due 7/23/15
Absolutely there are couples adopting domestically that will adopt older than newborn.. Some even prefer older than newborn.
Take your time and make sure you make the right decision for your baby. I wish you the best in parenting.. And, if it becomes too much and you decide to move forward with adoption, I wish you the best in finding the right couple for the baby.
Me: 32, DH: 45... TTC #1 since May 2010
July - Nov 2011: Testing with OB... OB said everything looks good
March - Sept 2012: Moved to RE.. 4 treatment cycles - responses of one or no follicles
09.03.12: Diagnosed Poor Ovarian Response.. DE IVF only option
Feb - Nov 2012: Pursued Adoption. That door slammed shut.
12.23.12: Surprise BFP (first ever)... 12.25 - 12.31: Natural M/C
If you decide down the road to make an adoption plan, a good adoption attorney can help you too.... regardless of the age of your child.
As for prosepctive adoptive parents, many are open to children of all ages... and I find that those seekign to adopt a newborn are open to babies in general.
All of this said, please get some counseling. If you are struggling with your thoughts now, a good therapist or counselor could help you.
Best friends and sisters... 24 months and 16 months
Of course they will! We adopted our son when he was three months old. Call around till you find a lawyer/agency who will work with you. Or hit a web site with family profiles and find someone who will be excited about being your backup plan. We've done that a couple of times, too. Good luck!
