Nurseries and Baby Gear

Newbie question about registering

My family is in Georgia. DH's parents are suburban Albany and suburban Detroit. We live in Boston (as do many of our friends). I feel like it's going to be impossible to find one place to register that is convenient for all involved!

Should I just assume that anyone long distance to us will have to have their gifts mailed anyways so as long as the store has a web site they are all set, even if there isn't a location in their part of the country (or it isn't conveniently located)? Is that rude?

TIA!

Re: Newbie question about registering

  • Amazon is your friend. They have a great baby registry and it is super easy for people to have things shipped to you through the registry. Our family is in GA and we are in CO. We did amazon and BRU. Those that wanted to give a gift but didn't come to a shower used amazon. Those that came to the shower mostly used BRU because they waited until the last minute to shop.

  • I would do a store that is local for you that has an online site like BRU or Target. This will make returns much easier for you. Target has a pretty decent shipping policy so a lot of the larger items like the PNP or high chair would ship for free to your home for guest anyway.
  • I would do Amazon.com in this case. You can't go wrong, everything is online.

  • Buy Buy Baby, which is owned by Bed Bath and Beyond, offers free shipping when something is ordered off your registry, just like bed bath and beyond does for wedding registries. we did buy buy baby and BRU, and we were very happy with both. That said, if I were in your position, I would definitely do amazon. After our shower, I went through and looked at the stuff we still needed from each registry, and even with the completion discounts offered by both places, a lot of stuff was still cheaper on amazon.
