Comfortable Temperature?

I am wondering what temperature you all keep you houses set to? We have been noticing that DS's room is colder than the rest of the house (the bedrooms are on the second floor), and since he can't sleep with blankets we have a sleeper thing that zips around him (don't know the name of it). His hands still seem to be ICE when I get him in the morning.

We are cranking the heat tonight and are monitoring the temperature with a thermometer to compare to the rest of the house, and may buy a space heater if it continues...but curious what temperature you all keep it at?

Our house is about 72, but his room is hovering around 67/68 - seems way too cold if you ask me.

Re: Comfortable Temperature?

  • Anywhere between 70 and 75 for us. If I feel it's too cold, I put him in thicker pj's. He never wakes up sneezing or with a runny nose or anything like that, so I don't worry about it.

  • We keep it at 76, but we live in Florida, so our air conditioning is still on. I worry that its too warm! What is the recommended temp for babies?

Really??? That's so cold! Our bills would be insane...does anyone in the south keep it at that temp? Is that what everyone did over the summer?

  • Oh man, our place is too hot and we don't have/can't have AC. It stays about 7880 degrees. I make sure to have a fan right on her while she sleeps with windows open. Our trade winds were absent for nearly a week. It was miserable!

  • my house is always between 72 and 74.
  • Our house is set at 71, but we have a century home and the second floor temperature is unpredictable. DS's room is always a little cool, so we have an oil space heater on a night. It's on the lowest setting in the hall, and have a small fan behind it blowing in to DS's room. That way it doesn't get too warm, and there's still air circulation. I suppose we could just get a fan space heater, but we already had the oil one, so we just go with it. We only put it on, on cold nights.

You're not afraid of fire? We usually keep our apt set to 60, since heating oil is so expensive.  This seems too cold for her so we've had it at 65.  I would get a space heater but I'm terrified of house fires!

  • I asked my doctor and she said between 68 and 72. She said if you are comfy then it is fine for the baby.
