Foster to adopt in Illinois

Hi ladies! I posted a while back, in the beginning of summer, about some general questions. After taking the summer to consider, it looks like we are going to be moving ahead with foster to adopt. Has anyone here from Illinois been able to do this successfully? Where should we start? How likely are we to get an infant? Also, any tips or general info you wish you had when you first started would be appreciated! Thanks in advance, ladies!

I'm not from Illinois so I don't have any advice, but congratulations on moving forward with foster to adopt! We are also just starting the journey but from a different state. Good luck Smile

We are in southern IL and about 5 weeks in to the process of getting our license to foster. Working with Christian Social Services and so far they have been wonderful. There is a ton of paperwork and education involved. Dh and I just completed our second week of pride classes which are 3 hours, once a week for 9 weeks. You have the ability to choose a certain age group, gender, whether or not you would take siblings, etc. You are not obligated to take whatever child may be available. As far as the chances of getting an infant; there is no way to answer that. And even foster to adopt children are not guaranteed to be placed for adoption. You can certainly choose to hold out for an infant. Good luck on your journey!
