Our 2nd son, Finnigan, was born September 28th here at home! It was an amazing experience, I had to write it out soon after so I wouldn't forget a single detail!
Thanks for sharing your story! It is always helpful to hear such positive stories. I am planning my water birth at birth center and am nervous about being able to to do it medfree.
Don't be nervous! If I can do it, so can you!
It's overwhelming and yes, it hurts! But so not anything you can't handle!
I found my husband was such a huge help, he works out of the city and I was really nervous that he wouldn't make it home in time if I went into labor while he was at work during the day. I probably could not have done it without him, he was a HUGE source of comfort.
Thanks for sharing! I had a hospital birth with my first and I am already planning for a birth center birth for my hypothetical second. I loved that you mentioned sitting in a wooden chair.... I carried a donut pillow around for a week after my daughter was born. That's so encouraging that I might not need it next time!

Thank you for sharing your story. It was very beautiful to read and as I'm planning to have my own home water birth for my first baby, it really added to my confidence that I CAN do this. Congratulations on your new baby! From what I read in your blog, it sounds like you have an amazing and supportive husband, and Finn is very lucky to be born into such a loving family. I bet Gage adores his baby brother too
What an awesome story. I can only hope my birth story turns out to be similar (without the older child of course) as I prepare to give birth anytime now!

I'm glad I could make other mom's feel more confident going into their birth experience! My biggest anxiety about having another baby was tearing again, I had a horrible recovery with my first son (who I had in the hospital, his birth story is also on the blog just scroll down a bit further) and while I still tore with Finn, my midwife told me I only tore because I tore once before with Gage. The recovery process compared to last time has been night and day. I hope my story makes other mom's less anxious, I lost a lot of sleep worrying about how my recovery would be this time around!
My dad's hobby is photography, and he had his camera attached to his hand for that first meeting of Finn. Some of the pictures he took are just stunning, but one in particular captured the whole moment of when Gage met Finn for the first time. It's in black and white and it's taken within the first 3 seconds that Gage laid eyes on Finn for the first time and the look of wonder on his face. It's already blown up and framed on my wall! It makes me cry every time I look at it. Brother's are so special!
Also, I started my own forum for fun and it's specifically for other mom's. It's a place for mom's to post and have no judgement in return, and to get support from other mom's. Feel free to post, and post your own birth story! www.proudmommy.forumotion.ca
