Help! LO Hates the carseat

My LO at first loved the carseat now he HATES it!

What happened? Has this happened to anyone?

Do you still have the newborn insert in? I've heard that it gets a little better when they get big enough to not need it.

I've heard from a lot of friends that their babies really hated the infant carseat but do much better in the convertible carseat.

I know this sounds ignorant, but what's convertible carseat? He is 3 months and 16 pounds...can he use a convertible carseat?

convertible carseats can be rear facing and forward facing. You just can not take them out of the car and carry them like you can an infant seat. As long as you keep it rear facing, your LO can use a convertible seat. Just look online at any site that sells car seats and you will see.

Have you tried a mirror that hangs over the head rest? DS2 screams bloody murder if he can't see me. I also make sure he always has a soft toy to play with as well, which seems to help.

I honestly think it has to do with their level of awareness. My lo was exactly the same. I think around three months he felt like he was alone if he couldn't see us. Now at five months he knows that we are still there even if he can't see us. He is much better in the car seat now but around that 3 month mark it was dreadful. We downloaded a white noise app and played it loud over the speakers in the car to sooth him. It worked most of the time.

I posted about this on my birth month board my DS hated the carseat with a passion. Like others said get a mirror, we now always give him toys and I make sure he isn't too hot or cold. Also, I play white noise and that helps a lot too. Unfortunately it's just one of those things-some days he's fine and others I cannot get home fast enough because he is screaming his head off. GL

I give my 5 month old lots of toys and I make sure she can see to look out the window. smart babies get bored. I also have a mirror . being able to see out the window made a big difference .

My LO hated her infant seat so we moved her to a convertable (Britax Boulevard) at 3.5 months. She was ~ 12lbs but had great head control and fit perfectly. She loves it so much more and I think it is so much easier to use and seems way more comfy than her infant seat. I also give her soft toys, like her Taggies, to play with.
