If this has been posted about previously, let me know. Haven't been on here in months.
Is anyone else here stopping at 1 child? I am considering it. Not because I had a difficult pregnancy, not because I don't think I can afford it.
I grew up with two siblings and they are my best friends, but I'm really not convinced I want to have another baby. I know it's early, and maybe I'll change my mind.
Re: Stopping at 1?
I definitely want more. However I don't know how we will afford it? Daycare is almost $1600 for 1 baby, I don't make enough to pay twice that in daycare and my commute costs, etc.
However we also can't survive on one salary, at least not easily.
So I'm not sure what to do.I feel like people have more than one child all the time, but looking at the numbers I'd be going to work for $0. And I have a good job, I make a good salary I think. And I don't want to be a SAH mom, I like my job...
Keep in mind that daycare costs typically go down as the child gets older higher ratio of kids to teachers, so while our infant is 1500/mo, our 3 year old is under 1000. Its still a huge chunk of change, but not quite double the infant rate. Also, you'll only be paying for daycare/preschool for 5 years or so, then theoretically the childcare costs go down. Of course then you get into other activities that are too! Sports, camps, before/after school care, colllege saving, etc etc, etc!. Kids are , but totally worth it!
Also, I always knew I wanted at least 2 kids, but my DS was WELL over a year before I was ready to actually think about pregnancy and another newborn in the house! Its been MUCH easier the second time around!
