We only lost Eli a little over 2 wks ago so I haven't personally asked my ob yet. I am an OB nurse though & we tell patients to wait til they have their check up at 6 wks. It's important to make sure the cervix is closed otherwise there is risk for infection. I hope that helps.

Thank you....I have read anything from 26weeks. I know it sounds awful...but.I long for that special and close time with dh.....I am not sure why....

I don't recall our OB telling us a specific period to wait. I think out of caution we just waited until I stopped bleeding. It doesn't sound awful to want to be intimate with YH. I think it is natural, you've been through a tremendous loss and now you want to be intimate, connected, and close. Don't be hard on yourself if you're very emotional the first few times. Sex is emotional and combined with the emotions from your loss it isn't unexpected to shed some tears or feel guilty. Be gentle with yourself. {{hugs}}

I was also told 6 weeks. And I will agree that the first few times are emotional and hard to fully explain. Not weird exactly, but kind of.

We were cleared at 4 weeks, but Baby was born at 20w. He was obviously small so there was no tearing or anything.

We waited 4 weeks and it was very emotional. I was cleared and told to wait until the bleeding stopped as well. I was actually surprised that it was just as emotional for my husband.

Wanting the physical closeness of intimacy with your H is not strange at all. My follow up appointment is at 4 weeks and I imagine the doctor will clear us then.

My doc cleared us at my 4 week pp visit but I think we waited for the bleeding to stop, around 7 weeks I think.

I was cleared at 4 weeks, which is around the time I stopped bleeding. But then my first period postpartum kicked in right after, so that ruled sexy time out for awhile.

Thanks for.your responses ladies. My bleeding has turned very light so I am thinking it is almost done, but I also got a uti last week and have been on meds Since Friday and it is not gone yet. So i have a feeling ill need to call and have another round of meds as well. Ugh....

I do want that closeness, but i agree with what im hearing about.the emotions...im sure it will affect us :

Just an FYI - my bleeding would slow and then pick up again....then slow, then pick up again. I finally asked my friend who is a PA about it and she said that was very normal and was the uterus contracting back down or something or other. Anyway, just FYI in case yours picks up again, I think that is common. I was frustrated because I kept thinking it was getting better, and then I got scared that something else was wrong. If it does pick back up, you can always check with your nurse, but I just didn't want you to be surprised in the even that happened.
