any LOs walking yet?

Unassisted?  LO will stand for a few seconds by himself,  but he hasn't tried to take any steps while doing that.  He is a speedster when crawling though!  His morning teacher at DC says he's not allowed to walk yet because she's not ready for him to leave her and go to the next room, LOL!

Re: any LOs walking yet?

  • here!  she just started last week.  it's pretty darn cute if I do say so myself.

She still crawls when she's in a hurry though - she's fast!  but she's getting more and more confident on her feet everyday.  It's so bittersweet; she seems like such a little kid now.

  • Close, but not yet. DS can stand for a good amount of time unassisted. He is trying to take first steps, but isn't quite there yet. He is also a speedy crawler!

  • Yes, walking and walking all day long. But he really likes to hold on to my finger tip! He can walk by himself for quite a distance, but is not very confident yet.

  • DS refuses to hold hands and walk down the hall, bedroom, or anywhere...  DS gets put into the PnP, He's walking without holding onto anything the whole way across then proceeds to do a faceplant, he LOVES it!

  • Such a cute video MrsT!
No walking here yet. He has been cruising for literally months, and takes a step between things he wants, but that's it. He started cruising so early that I was sure he would walk soon, but not yet. He will stand alone for over 30 seconds on a regular basis. I know it will be harder on me, but I'm ready for him to walk. Frankly, I'm sick of hearing ppl say 'oh he will take off any day now'. These comments started about 4 months ago when he started cruising, and I'm tired of hearing them! Lol

Not yet. She is cruising along the funiture now. So at your DC when they start walking they get moved to the toddler room or is there a in between room?

They stay in the baby room until age 2 at my DC.

    Ours is 18 months

  • E started last weekend, taking at most four steps and falling down.  He's been practicing all week, and now he can pretty much walk as far as he wants, toys and furniture tend to get in his way!

There's an infant room and a 12-18 month room.  They move them when they are mobile enough to hang with the kids next door.  We go to a fairly small, local, non-chain DC center.

  • My daughter will take 3 or so independent steps. She'll walk from the couch to me, or from the couch to her activity table. Things like that. I expect her to be really walking within a week or two.

Edit: At our daycare they move walkers to a tots room. They stay there until about 15 months and then move to the toddler room. In the toddler room they have a much more structured day. They're in the toddler room until 2 and then the rooms progress up by age (2s, 3s, 4s, pre-K, school-aged).

  • I love the videos of the walkers! DS isn't walking yet, but he's been pulling up and cruising for about 6 weeks now.  He doesn't stand on his own though, and has no interest in walking unassisted.  He does walk behind some of his toys, especially the v-tech sit and stand toy.  I try and get him to take steps to me, but he just gets down on his knees and crawls!  I know I'm going to be a little sad when he actually does start walking, but right now I'm really rooting for him! I'm sure I will be super excited when he finally does, and then it will hit me, and I will cry...

Hmmm I like that idea!! Our infant room is 6wks-18 months...Luckily they only have 6 babies:0

  • Love the vid, MrsT!

No walking here, he's just now getting confident pulling up on everything.

Our daycare has 2 infant rooms and switch on mobility/development more than age but DS moved around 9 months to the second room and I'm guessing will move again around 18 months.

  • Sloane started walking just before she was 9 months. She had been cruising for two months already and started trying to take steps on her own at about 8 and a half months.

She still falls sometimes, but she's doing pretty good.

He's an Alaskan Klee Kai, basically his breed was developed to look like a mini husky.  He is really mini though, barely 6 lbs.  (although, he has been gaining weight since Ethan started solids.  Rocky likes sweet potatoes too)!

  • Not walking unassisted.  He loves standing and will take maybe one step unassisted but then falls down.  He's a super fast crawler though!

  • LO has been taking steps since 9.5 months, and is starting to get better- but, since he is a super fast crawler, I have been told they sometimes walk a little later. They don't have a ton of reasons to walk whecrawling is so much more efficient!

  • Adelynn just started pulling up on stuff this week. I imagine it will be a while before she tries to stand unassisted, but I could be wrong. She is a speedy army crawler, though. She still doesn't crawl on all fours, but she can get anywhere she wants to go by army crawling. She must have some Michelle Obama arms. Big Smile

  • No walking yet for us! Just a lot of cruising and crawling.  E loses her confidence as soon as she lets go of whatever she is holding onto and immediately goes down to a crawling position.  Yay to all the babies who started walking! The videos are all so cute :)

  • Yes, she will take steps.  The most she has taken at a time is three.  She stands unassisted all the time.
