Scheduled C-section process?

For those who have had a scheduled c-section, what is the process? I know we have to show up at 5:30 but the c-section won't be until 7:45. Do I wait out in the open in a waiting area or in a room? I am asking because I don't want my mother waiting with me and she will not respect my husbands and my decision.

    Mine was scheduled at noon so I got there at 10. They took me back to triage where I was hooked up to a monitor while we waited. My family was allowed back there because I asked them to come back. At my hospital, you have to have a code to get in the maternity part and without that, you aren't let it.

    Thank you! I want to see my mom for a few hours the day before, I will tell her that we will not be talking about the c-section. And then after an hour in recovery, we have a 2 hour recovery at our hospital, we will only allow the grandparents in and everyone else can wait until we get up into our room after the 2nd hour of recovery.

    When you get there you will fill out your paper work and then they will take you to a private room where you will be prepped and then off to the OR.  

    Side Note: Leave as much as you can in your car until they move you to your room after delivery/recovery. We only brought in our camera and then once we knew where our room was H brought the rest of our stuff up. We were there for 4 nights  so there was a good amount of stuff.

    Agree with the PP, we were specifically asked to leave our bags in the car until we had our room after surgery, only bring the camera in. 

    Here is how our section went a few weeks ago, we were scheduled for a 1:30pm surgery, asked to arrive by 11:30am. Sadly we got delayed,  but by 1pm or so we were in a room. They had me undress, get into a surgery gown, then started an IV. Basically they did a complete history, asked lots of questions, did vitals, etc then offered 3 options for me...epi/spinal or general. I picked the epi since DH could be with me in the room while they did it, spinal I would have had alone in the OR. Then we waited for that to take affect, once it was good to go DH went to get changed in his scrubs and they took me into the room to get on the table. And then baby arrived. :O)

    Much better experience than our emergency section last year.

    Your OB or hospital should tell you their procedure.  For my hospital, I went in the day before the c/s for bloodwork & to fill out paperwork.  The morning of my c/s, I went in at 6:30 (surgery was scheduled for 8:30) and I was immediately taken to a room in L&D.  They had me change into a hospital gown, and hooked me up to the monitors to get baseline vitals on both me & the baby.  Then they prepped me for surgery, the OB came in & went over what to expect, the anesthesiologist came in to go over what to expect, and then had me walk to the OR when the doctors were ready.  

    Our L&D unit is secured, no one but DH was allowed in automatically, and no one else could come in without my express permission.

    If your hospital offers a c-section "class", I definitely recommend it. They went through the whole procedure and it was nice to know the process ahead of time.

    I arrived 2 hours prior to the procedure and DH and I went to a triage room. I changed into a gown and was hooked up to an IV and a fetal heart monitor.  A nurse came in and took a bunch of background information. The anesthesiologist also came in and explained the spinal/epi procedure. My c/s ended up being a bit delayed (my OB was doing a VBAC), but once we got in there, it went pretty quickly.

    My hospital sucks, so I was in triage for the entire time we were waiting. C-section was scheduled for 7:15, it got pushed back until 9 AM. I was in triage with tons of other people behind a curtain from 5:30 or so until 9 AM. My mom got to the hospital at 6 AM and came back to triage. Mind you, I DID want her there, but not sure how I would have prevented the situation if I didn't. Perhaps I could have asked the triage nurses to not allow any visitors? I do know for 30 minutes or so I was "alone" in my triage area filling out paperwork and answering questions (not even DH was allowed with me) so I could have probably asked for no visitors during that time if it was an issue.
