Pink eye ?

DD has a runny nose and woke up this morning with her left eye closed up with a little bit of gunk. I figured it was just allergies, but her eye is still semi red this afternoon. If it was pink eye would she be rubbing and scratching it? She doesn't act like it bothers her. If it is not better in the morning, I guess we will be making another trip to the doctor's office.

Could be. When Wes has had it, it didn't seem to bug him. Look at the inside of her lower eyelid... If it is a dark red color, she probably has pink eye. Normal color of that tissue is a light salmon pink. That was an interesting tip the pedi shared with us.

Crap... It's pretty red. Guess I will be calling the doctor in the morning. How long did it take for Wes's eye to clear up?

They can get conjunctivitis from allergies. Try putting a warm wet washcloth like a compress on their eye, wiping the gunk and using a small amount of eye wash. We used this for Lo in the spring when we were on vacation and didn't want to take her somewhere random if we didn't have to. It cleared up really quick.

The eye drops we got from the dr cleared ds's pink eye right away.

whoops, sorry for the delay. Right away with the erythromycin ointment. It was better by the time he was ready for his nighttime application.

She has her one year photo shoot scheduled for Saturday. Guess I will play it by ear (or eye) whether to cancel or not.

If you can get a dr's appointment tomorrow I would take her. The medicine they give her will clear it up fast. I called my dr's office when ds had it to ask if he needed to come in or if it there was something I could do at home for it and my dr's office said to bring him in. You have to put the drops in a few times a day, but like HA said, it was almost cleared up by the time it was time for the second drops

I don't it's a big deal if you do wait, just if you want to get it cleared up for her pics I would take her in if possible.

Amelia (and I) had pink eye last week. After the first application of Rx drops, her eyes looked much better (they didn't even look that bad before- I thought it was a clogged tear duct).
