Haven't taken prenatals....questions

I am 18 weeks today and have not taken any prenatals yet.

 

Do you think my baby will be ok if I start now.  What can happen?  I have been eating semi-well.

    its never too late to start. I think as long as you eat well, then you are OK.

    Yes, you should start taking them.  If you've been nauseous, they MIGHT make it worse. If that's the case, you can take Flinstones (3) in it's place until your stomach feels better.

    Just keep in mind that women have been having babies for centuries before PNV's were invented.  Your baby will be fine- but if you want to give it the   best chance you should start taking them right away. You can never be too careful!

    Think of all the women who have babies that don't have access to prenatals. Yes, it's best if you take them and you can still start. But I don't think you're going to kill your baby if you don't, as long as you eat reasonably well.

    If you haven't been getting enough folic acid... spina bifida, for one.

    Baby will take from you whatever s/he needs... so your vitamin/mineral stores might be low.

    You should definitely talk to your doctor...

    From what I hear prenatals are more for you.  The baby will take all the vitamins in your system...I know a lady who had no prenatal care & the baby took quite a bit of calcium & her teeth shrunk up!!!Indifferent

     DO NOT TAKE FLINTSTONES!!!  I can't remember what it is but it contains something BAD - there was a HUGE story on NBC not that long ago.

    Dont worry too much you are not the only one - i take them on and off mostly becasue they make me sick feeling no matter when or with what i take them.

    What does yoru doctor say. He has been ok with you NOT taking them. I don't see how they would be ok with that. That is crazy. Iwould start taking them. The baby needs the vitamins. And you may need to find a new doctor.

    Have you gone to a Dr. yet?  If so, then I am surprised they didn't prescribe you any.  If not, then get your a$$ to one ASAP as that should be your #1 concern!!!

    Agreed it probaly is. But either way I'm sure there is a woman out there who needs to be told it anyway. I can't imagine not taking mine but that is because I had vitmin deficencies before I got PG so maybe it's just really important subject to me.
