Question about Downs from a lurker (XP)

Hi ladies! I just got my quad screening results and found out our results are very high for downs 1/76. Wondering if anyone here has had numbers like this and what was outcome? Also did you do an amnio, the Materni21 bloodwork or nothing at all? TIA!

Our risk was 1/110. After much debate, we ended up doing an amnio since we just needed to know, but the blood test wasn't available at that time. That is certainly what I would do now though instead as it is >99% accurate supposedly. Ds does not have down syndrome so we got the all clear from the amnio, but it was also clear around that time that he was measuring small and it turns out he had asymmetric growth restriction due to placental issues. We were monitored frequently and he was taken out early when his growth stopped all together. In general, most women who screen high risk have absolutely no issues.

We had 1:5 odds after 1st trimester screening and then 1:45 and combining it with blood work from 15 weeks. We didn't have the choice for the Materni21 or the Harmony then. We did an amnio and DD does have Ds.

Have you checked out the babycenter.com boards? They have some great boards for Ds and Ds pregnancy. There is also a amnio board and I think the new blood tests have boards as well.

We only did the MaterniT21 test -- it came back positive for Downs and we decided the odds were so not in favor of having a child w/o Downs that we're going to treat this pg as if ds has downs until he proves otherwise at birth.

Thank you all so much for sharing your experiences! We are going to move forward with the blood test first and see where we are at. It is highly recommended that if that comes back positive we should do the amnio. Thank you again!

I'm not sure what our early odds were we didn't do any early screens. At my anatomy scan they found 5 markers and they said our odds were "upwards of 80". We had an amnio!! Well probably do the NT scan and possibly the Maternity21 test next time. I don't think we'd do an amnio again because we already know about Down syndrome and I'm not sure I'd need to be quite that "sure" again.

my results for ds #1 was 1 in 35. after getting a level 2 ultrasound and no markers found the results changed to 1:70. that was over 5 years ago so no materit21 back then. the results didn't matter to us so i refused the amnio so we didn't find out until birth he has Down syndrome.
