Umbrella Stroller Recommendations?

We have registered for the infant seat and the keyfit caddy to make it through the tiny phase but want to register for a light umbrella stroller for the future (we are also getting a BOB jogger but wont register for that and it wont be our main stroller since it is bug and bulky).

Wanted to know if anyone has tried or heard which umbrellas strollers are good?

Re: Umbrella Stroller Recommendations?

  • My friend has a MACLAREN QUEST Umbrella Stroller and loves it. Its still compact enough but still roomy and tougher than the flimsy umbrella strollers that you can pick up for $20.

  • Well it depends what you mean about umbrella strollers. To me, umbrella strollers are the cheapo $5/10 ones.

But if you mean lightweight strollers, there is the city mini which is popular but something that is lighter weight and almost $200 cheaper is the contours lite. I love ours. HTH!

  • We are getting the Chicco Liteway as our light weight stroller. Our other stroller (besides the snap and go for the first few months) will be the City Mini. I've heard great things about the Chicco Liteway and I like that in comes in red and is stocked at our local Targets.

  • We used to have the city mini as our light weight stroller for flying but upgraded to the city versa.
  • I have the Chicco Liteway and love it!  I also like the UppaBaby Gluxe but didn't have the money for that one.

  • We have the Cybex Onyx and I really like it. Easy fold, light weight, and easy 1 hand recline (I wanted a one hand recline, not the string thing).

  • We have the Peg Perego SI lightweight stroller and I love it! Very light, easy to fold/un-fold and put away. The umbrella part goes down pretty low.

  • DD just turned 3 months and I plan on purchasing the UppaBaby G-luxe today!

It is ultra light and can be used from 3 months as it reclines.  Also has a cup holder and a decent size basket for an umbrella stroller.

I also have a BOB - love!  I have a Chicco car seat and have been using the Chicco brand snap-n go as well as the Bob with the Chicco car seat adapter.  This has been working brilliantly for me and DD thus far.  I had hoped the BOB could serve as our only stroller but you are way smarter than me :) for realizing early on that that isn't a good option.

  • We got the inglesina swift, which is an awesome stroller. It's super lightweight (much more than the city mini), has a great canopy, and it reclines, so we can actually use it with our newbie, since it reclines so far back. Pushes like a dream!

  • Just bought the Uppababy G-lux and can't say enough good things about it!!  It is lighter than the McClaren and Chicco competitor models. It is priced in between the two and has loads of features.  I just used it with DD today.  She is 3 months.  It reclines and is one of the very few models that can be used at such a young age. DD LOVED her walk today!  She got to look around at the world and then fell asleep and napped for over 2 miles!

  • I used a City Mini as my umbrella for awhile but finally gave it up as I found it to be bulky.  I got a Maclaren Volo used for $40 and I wish I had gotten it sooner!  It's the no frills Maclaren but you can find tons of their fancier models on CL.  Totally worth it as a backup stroller (although you may end up using it as your main).
