What do you all think of the montessori idea of a floor bed? DD is still cosleeping and doesn't have her own room yet but we are currently doing renovations and adding a room for her. I was thinking that instead of a crib or a toddler bed we could just use a floor bed.
I like that I could lie down with her and nurse her, or read to her, etc. Since we're building the room with her in mind it could be completely baby-proofed.
Opinions?
Re: Montessori floor bed
We did a floor bed with Callum around 15 months - went beautifully. Eleanor actually went into a toddler bed around 16 months (well part time as she sleeps with me most nights the second half of the night) - primarily for space reasons we used the smaller mattress instead of the full size we did for Callum. The bigger bed is the way to go for sure

We have the Fjellse twin bed from IKEA. It's pretty low to the ground so he can get on and off, and has a relatively thin mattress. I do have a guard rail up just in case, as well. I love it because I can crawl in bed with him if he's sick, or if he wakes up in the middle of the night, instead of hauling him out of the crib.
We just transitioned last weekend and it went beautifully. It took one night of me laying with him and he was able to fall asleep on his own from then on. He gets up in the morning and plays with toys until he is ready to come out.
What just happened in my diaper?!

This is us exactly. We started DD in her floor bed when she began to crawl and she loves it. We originally had a crib for her and she HATED it, I think she only slept in it once. She sleeps great in her bed though. She is in it for naps and for the beginning of the night, usually until around 10. It's nice that I'm able to lay beside her and nap too!
We have her baby room completely baby proofed. She is able to get up and crawl around if she likes.
