Well I got my BFP in Aug; however I miscarried last month I just got my bills in the mail from my first appointment and blood work. I have come to find out that my insurance doesn?t cover maternity!!!! I was just wondering if anyone here has or had Badger Care. If so what did you think of it, did it cover most things for you??
Re: Badger Care????
I have my own health insurance but since my job doesn?t offer insurance I have to get my own and I can?t find an individual health insurance company that will offer maternity. I work my 40+hours a week and so does my husband. We pay our taxes; it?s not our fault that our company?s don?t offer insurance. I wasn?t asking for criticism. You have no idea our situation; it?s very uncalled for for you to call us selfish.
I don't need to know you to know that if you and your husband are employed full time, you don't need to leach off of the rest of us for your healthcare. There are lots of people far less fortunate than you who are on a wait list for healthcare.
My husband is self employed (and I'm a stay at home mom) and we buy our own insurance. Over the past 10 years or so I can honestly say I've looked into just about every plan out there. We each have our own policy through HIRSP which while it isn't cheap it's the only one I've found that covers maternity AFTER 6 MONTHS. To get the plan you have to be turned down for insurance first so the best advice I can give is to apply for a plan that you know won't cover you (list any and all preexisting conditions you can think of;) and use that as your denial.
We've had to pay cash for our deliveries in the past due to other insurance not covering them (even though they say they cover IN HOSPITAL SURGICAL CARE)- a c-section with proper prenatal care sets us back more than $20,000 each. We have five kids with number six due in January. It makes the $800 quarterly premiums with a $2,500 deductible seem pretty reasonable when you compare the cost of doing it uninsured.
I don't think that many people realize the sad state of healthcare. I know a couple that have to carry their own insurance and they too were unable to find a plan that covered maternity. The insurance company actually told them that once they get pregnant they should go on Badger Care.
No, they are not selfish for wanting to have a child. The insurance company is selfish for failing to cover expenses assiciated with starting a family.
*Siggy Warning*

Anxious to start TTC #3 within the next year!
WOW! You do NOT know their situation. I know personally that the deductible with my husbands work insurance was too high for us($5,000), so we got medicaid to cover the deductible for us. Just because they are both working does not mean that an extra couple thousand for a deductible is easy to pay. ALSO BadgerCare has insurance that you can pay for. My SIL has BadgerCare and she pays for it.
We have BadgerCare at the moment because we just moved from Texas and my husband's job just fell thru.
I am not sure who you think you are, but you're no better than anyone, so jump off your high horse.
OP-we haven't used any of our benefits yet, but my DH is looking into getting his Varicose veins taken care of, and I can do a f/u on how the insurance is with him.
Another SIL of mine had BadgerCare during her pregnancy and it covered everything. She didn't have any problems with it! (: GL
I had this happen as well. Badger care covered my one appt I had as well as my d&c afterwards I never got a bill which is great becasue I couldn't live with myself looking at that bill every month.
