Grinding her gums and clicking her jaw

It's so gross. She just started doing it today and I can hear her jaw making a popping sounds as she grinds back and forth. This is part of teething right? She can't hurt herself doing this? I hate cracking knuckles so this is grossing me out. Bleh :P

Re: Grinding her gums and clicking her jaw

  • I don't remember my DD doing this, but DS is doing this now. It drives me batty. I cannot stand the sound of it. But I am not to worried about it. He is teething, as he has had a small bump on his gums for about 2-3 weeks now. Just waiting on it to poke through.

  • Not to freak you out but my oldest did that and he still grinds his teeth in his sleep and he's eight. It is so gross and loud but both his dr and dentist say he's too young and small to do anything about.

That was my worry. I grind my teeth when I'm stressed and have a mouth guard I have to wear when I feel the pain from it starting, I'm hoping she drops the habit!

  • You can try to discourage it by sticking your finger in her mouth to stop her, I did that with ds until he got teeth. Now I roll him over in his sleep to stop him.
