DD and I will be traveling to Maine for 2 weeks in Nov. We live in south FL, so it will be quite the change. What will she need? Should I buy a winter jacket to use for 2 weeks or just layer? How many layers can she safely wear in a carseat? She will be 6 months old. Tia!
Re: gear for colder weather?
My DD will be the same age and I live in Maine. Lately I've been dressing her in her day outfit (long sleeves and long pants with shorts and often a hat) and then putting a sweater on over that. She goes in the car seat like that. And then I have a blanket that I tuck in over her body to keep her warm when going from the car in to day care.
If you want more tips, just page me on the Maine Nest board. It's dead there, but I still hang around.
Well we live In Alaska so we're kind of experts on "cold weather" lol.
But I would buy an infant snowsuit-something like this is what we buy :

We dress our daughter in any kind of clothing under this : like jeans/tops, dresses, skirts-everything seems to fit and be pretty comfy for her. And she always stays warm. We also put a hat on her. That should keep her nice and toasty. And when you go to and from the car use a blanket over the carseat. To block wind/temperature.
As for the car seat cover, they make ones similar to the linked one (shower cap style and not JJ Cole) rated for subarctic temperatures. I had one - I would think it would be overkill in Maine though.
