When did your newborn start fitting into BumGenius?

When did your newborn start fitting into BumGenius? I know it says 8-35 lbs, but it is realistic to expect a brand new baby to actually fit into them if he weighs 8 lbs?

(FYI, DD started wearing BumGenius solid white pocket diapers several months ago when we started CDing, and we'd prefer to just buy more of those for our son to use.)

Mine was 2.5 weeks when she fit in them. However, I have heard that is not the norm... maybe my baby had chunky legs? She was approx 8.5lbs at that age and was born at 7lbs 14oz

If your new baby has skinny legs it may be when he is closer to 10 lbs that he fits in the bg's. if you want to cd from the beginning consider some prefolds and covers as they are very inexpensive... and since you go through SO many more diapers as a nb and they fit for such a short time it's a huge money suck to get the higher end nb cd's.

I'm a FTM so I don't have personal experience with this however a friend of mine started using them from birth with her 8 lb baby and didn't have any problems. They seemed a little extra padded but it worked for them!

DD started wearing hers when she was about 5 weeks old, and 10lbs. She had chunky thighs, so it definitely helped with the fit.

I put my son in them right at the 8 lb mark. He was 22 1/2 months old and still so small and they looked hilarious because they were so big on him, but they worked!

closer to 14 lbs for us. And no skinny legs, although in retrospect, they were hand me downs and I think the leg gussets were streched out a bit.

We just started at 10 ish lb sand almost 5 weeks. I tried at 2 wks and we had leaks.

We first tried them at around 7 weeks/10lbs and they fit great.

Mine started to fit right around 8lbs which for us was 4weeks.

I started putting my little guy in his Flips and Elementals when he was a month old and 11ish lbs. He was on the bigger side though.

3 weeks for us at 9ish pounds. His legs had to chunk up a bit.

We started with our CD's (including BG 4.0's) when DS was 3 weeks old. He was probably around 9 lbs and we did get quite a few leaks at first. They were much better around 5-6 weeks.

Around 10 lbs and 12 weeks. BGs have never been our best fitting diaper though. They are cut too wide.

I started as soon as her umbilical cord fell off, about 1.5 weeks, with the 4.0s. She was over 9lbs, and we never had any issues with leaks around her thighs because they are so chunky.
