After my last ultrasound at 13 weeks, I was advised to have further genetic testing done. Since this is my one and only shot at having a baby the thought of taking that risk of possible miscarriage with the CVS or Amnio freaked me out too much. Fortunately, my doctors told me of a new blood test that is a simple blood draw that will determine whether my baby may have Trisomy 21(Downes), Trisomy 18, or Trisomy 13. It not as extensive as the invasive tests as it does not test for as many abnormalities but it covers what was most important to me.
I'm happy to say that the test came back negative and I do not need further genetic testing! It is such a sweet relief! I would recommed looking into it if you are advised to have invasive genetic testing done...it may be a good option for you!

Re: Verify Test- Non-Invasive Alternative to CVS/Amino
This was NOT spam! Shame on YOU! I'm just trying to share what I think is an amazing non-invasive alternative to Amnio/CVS!
Knowing I would most likely have to have further genetic testingdue to age and my DH has a genetic abnormality, I spent months more worried about the possibilty of a miscarriage from having the invasive tests( CVS/Amnio) performed. I wish I had found out about the Verify test sooner so I didn't have to worry about that! I was only hoping I could offer some possible relief to other mammas-to-be out there in the same boat I was in.
Unreal that someone could just say I'm a liar.....when I'm not and am only trying to offer help. Wow!
I hope that there are many ladies out there that will benefit from my info!
Verinata.com is the website.
OP, I think that person thought you were a spammer because this was your first post. And maybe because you included a link to the company? Anyway, this is a FANTASTIC test... I took the Harmony test a few weeks ago which is the same thing (a competitor company I guess) and it's been such a relief not only to get the results, but also not be pressured constantly for amnio. With my baby boy (I was 40 when we conceived him), I came back as a 1/88 risk of Down's, and I kept being pressured to do amnio. I knew I didn't want to risk amnio so I kept declining, but it was still kind of worrying. This time, it's such a relief to have had a simple blood test available to give you more definitive answers for the three most common trisomies.
Best wishes to you and the rest of your pregnancy! and I hope you'll start posting more so people won't think you're a spammer, heehee!
JuliaJAG- Thank you so much! Yes, it was such a relief not to have to make the decision to have an Amnio! I mentioned earlier that this is my one and only shot at pregnancy so I don't want to take any extra risks!
I am so glad that you were able to take the test and had negative results!
Thanks for the positive words, I really appreciate them!
Congratulations!
I was given 1/50 odds of having issues with a genetic disorder even though the ultrasounds have looked great so far. I'm also nervous about having an invasive test done so I recently had a similar test (Harmony) and I'm not so patiently awaiting the results. I'm now 14 weeks along and I hope to have the results back next week.
This is my first pregnancy and even though I'm 40 I had no idea how many tests and appointments I would be in for - it's definitely a new adventure.
Best wishes for continued health and happiness!
