Hi Ladies,
I'm posting in the 9-12 because my LO has such a mop of hair, much more than a typical 8 month old, I thought maybe this board would be better to post on.
We are letting LO's hair grow because we do not want her to have bangs. We have been pinning her hair back with barettes, but her latest trick is to take them out and put them in her mouth. Obviously, this is a major choking hazard. We've tried headbands, but they don't seem to stay very long.
Any suggestions? Poor LO's hair is flopping in her eyes. The last resort is chopping some bangs, which I would hate to do.
Thanks!
Re: Need help with girls' hair accessories!
Are you able to use a rubber band and then clip the barette to her hair? Kind of hard to explain over the internet:9 Or maybe try different barettes?

I have the same problem with DD (who is just 9 months). We use those super tiny rubberbands (from Wal-Mart). I first put a pony on top of her head (like Pebbles:)) and then take that hair and put another pony in the back of her head. She has yet to take that one out.
I also use barrettes that snap in half (bad description)...they seem to hold pretty tight and she's OK with those too.
We were using headbands, but then she figured those out.
We switched to clippies, she figured those tasted pretty delicious, so that was the end of that.
We switched to the tiny rubber bands that PP mentioned (from Walmart). I sent her to daycare with 2 pigtails, she came home with 1. I tried putting them in her higher a bit tighter, but that was damaging her baby fine hair, so that ended those.
I finally bit the bullet and cut bangs. It's hair. It will grow back. If it is more comfortable and I have peace of mind knowing she is not going to choke on a rubber band, bangs are worth it.
Compromise and Balance are key. JH.
