Okay so my little one from birth has never slept in his crib for more than 10 minutes before waking up. Thus we began co-sleeping early. He slept with me at night as well as for naps. Well recently we have realized that if we put him down in his swing awake he will doze off on his own! He only sleeps for 45 minutes though, never any longer. Well he also has reflux and has been choking at night even if I lay him on his side. I tried the swing for night sleep and it worked for one night and hadn't worked since. Well today I decided to try something. I unswaddled him, feed him, and got him to where he was very sleepy. I then laid him down in his crib on his side and rolled him to his tummy very slowly. He slept like that for 45 minutes. So sadly his nap wasn't any longer BUT he actually slept in the crib for the first time ever! I checked on him very very often, and plan to get the angelcare monitor. Just wondering if you think this could be something worth trying at night as long as I have a monitor? Do you think since he slept well like this eventually he could get longer stretches for naps? His crib is sidecar to my bed and he can roll front to back now and lift his head. He did spit up, but for the first time he didn't choke on it or wake himself up like he does at night! Opinions?

Re: Tummy sleeping?
I agree with PP. Do what gets you and LO some sleep.
I'm sorry to hear that the swing didn't work.
DD has slept on her belly since she was 4 weeks old, and she went from 20 minute naps to 2 hour ones! She also sleeps on her belly at night, and has since that age. Her neck's always been really strong and she had no issues turning her head from side to side without getting stuck halfway.
I actually think sometimes that letting her sleep on her belly also helps her get gas and burps out.
