I know this may be a dumb question but I'm not sure how to pronounce Violet!

Is it VI-let OR VI-oh-let?

 

Does that make sense? Do you pronounce the O?

    The 'o' sound in the middle is pronounced, but runs together quickly so it sounds like vie-let. The o sound isn't pronounced like vie-O-let where it's obvious.

    I pronounce the o, but I think it just depends how someone speaks and accent. I think most people know the name/word Violet, but people pronounce it differently. I would pronounce it how you normally would say it when reading it.

    Thank you guys!

    I pronounce the word with the "O" but not overly pronounced. I say the name fast so it's not overly done with the "O" but my husband says Vi-Let, while I say Vi-Oh-Let. And I was just wondering if I'm saying it weird.

    I just sat at my desk saying this name out loud many time to see how I actually say it! Ha.

    Turns out, I actually say it more like "Vi -uh - let" or "Vi - let". That first one is probably all sorts of wrong.

    Both are correct and I tend to say both. Usually just VY-let

     

    it's supposed to be vi-o-let, but when you say it fast it's vylet
