POLL: Your Nursery

If you're bored like me...

I'm wondering how your thoughts, feelings or use of your nursery has changed now that we've had our LOs for a year. Here's a poll for fun.

1. Did you put together a nursery for LO?

2. When did you finish it - before or after he/she arrived?

3. What is/was your nursery theme?

4. Do you still like it?

5. What changes if any have you made in the last year?

6. Anything turn out to be useless or used less than you thought?

7. Have you considered or have plans for a big boy/girl room?

    1. Did you put together a nursery for LO? Sort of. We added the crib and some cubicles to store his things, cleaned out the closet, and hung up a couple of mobiles.

    2. When did you finish it - before or after he/she arrived? Before but we have made a couple of changes to it. For example, the changing table was upstairs but we always change him downstairs so it is in our LR rather than his bedroom. We are still adding some things on the walls or ceiling too.

    3. What is/was your nursery theme? I wanted a space theme but could not afford any bedding I really liked. We ended up doing puppies but since he can not use the comforter the only thing puppy is the mobile and his hamper. We also added glow in the dark stars on the ceiling and we will hang a large space shuttle from the ceiling after we give it to him on his birthday.

    4. Do you still like it? I still like it.

    5. What changes if any have you made in the last year? just added some more decorations on the wall and ceiling.

    6. Anything turn out to be useless or used less than you thought? The diaper pail rarely gets used since we change him downstairs all of the time. The bedding is worthless since we are not using blankets yet, he has little interest in the dog mobile (but loves the giant microbes mobile), and is hardly in his room except for sleeping.

    7. Have you considered or have plans for a big boy/girl room? We really didn't do much for decorating in the first place so all we need to do is convert the crib into a toddler bed when ready. The cubicles are already great for storing toys and books and they should work even when he is a teenager. His crib converts to a full size bed too. I do not feel like we really need to do anything but clean the baby stuff out of his closet and maybe change what is on the walls as he ages.

    1. Did you put together a nursery for LO? Yes!  It was one of my favorite things to plan while pregnant!

    2. When did you finish it - before or after he/she arrived? After/ Still in progress.  We finished all the major stuff before she was born, but the finishing touches didn't happen until later.

    3. What is/was your nursery theme? No theme.  The walls are aqua (BM's Robins Nest) and there are lots of different colors to accent.

    4. Do you still like it? It's my favorite room of the house.  I love, love, love it!

    5. What changes if any have you made in the last year? We lowered the crib and added more storage.

    6. Anything turn out to be useless or used less than you thought?  Nope, it's still very similar to our original plans.

    7. Have you considered or have plans for a big boy/girl room?  It will stay mostly the same.  It's not baby-ish at all so it will last until one of us gets tired of it.

    2. When did you finish it - before or after he/she arrived?  Way before she arrived.

    3. What is/was your nursery theme?  No real theme - the wall was already a Tiffany blue and I found a fabric that I liked that had that color and some pink and went with it.

    4. Do you still like it?  Yes.

    5. What changes if any have you made in the last year?  None really - we don't spend much time in there at all, it's mostly a giant closet and sleeping place.

    6. Anything turn out to be useless or used less than you thought?  No.

    7. Have you considered or have plans for a big boy/girl room?  Not even given it one thought.

  • We finished after she was born but that was just little things, the furniture and everything had been there for months. The room is green with sheer goldish curtains, the closet has a khaki curtain instead of a door, the crib is off white and the rest of the furniture and floor is maple. Her bedding and decorations are owls and are pink, green, yellow and orange. There's an oversize chair that's yellow orange and green. She has a metal and pink paper butterfly mobile. I've started transitioning it to a fairy tale theme. She has a cherry blossom tree wall decal. I bought wall decals and put them on the shelf backs on her hutch and drawer fronts. They're swirly stars, a Tinkerbell silhouette, and the phrases When You Wish Upon a Star and.A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes. I have a purple star pillow with Tinkerbell and I picked up a Disney Princess blanket for 5 on clearance. I'm going to have my dad paint a picture of Cinderellas coach and small prints of maybe the glass slipper on a pillow, Rapunzels tower and the rose in the glass case from Beauty and the Beast.

  • 1. Did you put together a nursery for LO? When I was 20 weeks pregnant

    2. When did you finish it - before or after he/she arrived? before

    3. What is/was your nursery theme? construction, John Deere...kinda all over the place

    4. Do you still like it? no

    5. What changes if any have you made in the last year? hung up pics of him and the dogEmbarrassed

    6. Anything turn out to be useless or used less than you thought? the expensive lamp, comforter, bumper and mobile.  The lamp shad melted, I think something was on top of it and got too hot, so we just left it all warped.  The mobile was the wind up kind, and I had to have it since it matched the comforter set.  WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!  the only thing I use from that comforter set is the bed sheet which probably only costs $10.

    7. Have you considered or have plans for a big boy/girl room? not really, eventually when we convert his crib to a toddler bed, we will then probably change his theme.  We want to add a cubby shelving soon though.

    If you're bored like me...

I'm wondering how your thoughts, feelings or use of your nursery has changed now that we've had our LOs for a year. Here's a poll for fun.

    1. Did you put together a nursery for LO? Yes

    2. When did you finish it - before or after he/she arrived? Before

    3. What is/was your nursery theme? Not too much of a theme but we had some woodland deer on her curtains and sheets, changing table cover and hamper in the same brown and green color scheme. The furniture is white. The wall hangings are pictures from our favorite children's books.

    4. Do you still like it? Yes

    5. What changes if any have you made in the last year? We've taken a lot of decorations of the walls and shelves because DD can reach them and tears them apart, now.

    6. Anything turn out to be useless or used less than you thought? We were pretty practical. Crib, dresser/changing table combo, hamper, book shelf and chair. Everything has been useful, so far.

    7. Have you considered or have plans for a big boy/girl room? I was actually looking at cute room ideas at Target yesterday. I think when she moves to a big bed, I'll let her pick sheets, comforter, new decorations out to help her get excited about the transition.

  • 1. Did you put together a nursery for LO? Yes

    2. When did you finish it before or after he/she arrived? The paint, new floors, and furniture were in, along with clothes and everything before she was born.

    3. What is/was your nursery theme? i didnt want it too "themey". it has charcoal gray walls, black furniture, and accented with Sip Hop owls, teal, orange and green...which are in the owls.

    4. Do you still like it? I do. the nice thing is because the only theme things were a few stuffed animals, i can put a plum colored sheet in her crib and it looks awesome against the gray, black and orange.

    5. What changes if any have you made in the last year? None. besides the occasional sheet changing colors. We were Team Green and everyone thought we would redo it to make it more girly if we had a girl. But we had a girl and I still love her room!

    6. Anything turn out to be useless or used less than you thought? nope!

    7. Have you considered or have plans for a big boy/girl room? I am hoping we move into a bigger house by the time she is in a big kid bed and room.

The only pictures I have on my phone.

Her crib and one of her two dressers. The dressers are next to each other and I hate them. They are eventually going to come out and an Ikea Hemnes big dresser is coming in.

    image

And her bins of toys....I wish I would have bought eight of these instead of only four! These are in a 16 cube ikea unit in her room. The other cubes hold stuffed animals, piggy banks, books, etc. Her changing table is actual the 4 cube ikea unit with the changing pad on top.

    If you're bored like me...

I'm wondering how your thoughts, feelings or use of your nursery has changed now that we've had our LOs for a year. Here's a poll for fun.

  • 1. Did you put together a nursery for LO? Yes.  We moved when I was 36 weeks pregnant, and I'm proud to say I sewed curtains, painted, and put together her furniture on my own!

    2. When did you finish it - before or after he/she arrived? Everything was pretty much done before.  A few things were added - my friend made me some yarn lamps that I hung a few months after she was born, and I moved the rocking chair into her room when she started sleeping in there.

    3. What is/was your nursery theme? No theme, just a color palate of sky blue, yellow, white, grass green, and coral.

    4. Do you still like it? Love it!

    5. What changes if any have you made in the last year? See above.

    6. Anything turn out to be useless or used less than you thought? Not really.  We actually still use our changing table almost every time.  The rocking chair I don't use to rock her to sleep anymore, but we still read books in it.

    7. Have you considered or have plans for a big boy/girl room?  The changing table is just a cubby shelf that can house toys, and the crib converts to a toddler bed.  I'll need to add a rug, but everything else can pretty much stay the same.

  • 1. Did you put together a nursery for LO? When I was 30 weeks pregnant

    2. When did you finish it - before or after he/she arrived? before

    3. What is/was your nursery theme? Underwater/sealife theme.

    4. Do you still like it? Yes.

    5. What changes if any have you made in the last year? Got new furniture, changed the configuration around (it's different than the picture), added blackout curtains. The decor hasn't changed, just everything else. LOL!

    6. Anything turn out to be useless or used less than you thought? The changing pad we never used, even though we used it for DD. Also, his rocking chair we old started using recently.

    7. Have you considered or have plans for a big boy/girl room? Yes! It's already planned in my head! It's going to be a monster theme (think Monster's Inc.). The room is green and I have no plans to repaint so I had to find something to match. This will be changed once Luke converts to a big boy room.

Here are pics at the store:

    5. What changes if any have you made in the last year? Nothing really.
