I went through IVF last year and became pregnant with twins. Sadly I lost my babies at 18 weeks due to preterm labor. After a hysteroscopy to remove scar tissue from the pregnancy, I went through a FET (BFN) followed immediately by a fresh IVF cycle (BFN). That cycle ended at the end of June.
DH & I decided to take an emotional break since then and found a new RE as well. This RE thinks I am perfectly normal and should be able to conceive on my own. Upon her recommendation we just went through an unmedicated IUI.
I don't yet know if it worked but I'm not overly hopeful as life has not been kind to us in this area
I guess I am just thinking ahead, but I would consider trying one more, possibly 2 more IUI's with her before returning to IVF again. According to my new RE I shouldn't HAVE to go through IVF but the reality is, there is only so much I can take and at least with IVF I know my odds of becoming pregnant are much higher.
I was just wondering, WHAT'S A LONG ENOUGH BREAK? I know most RE's will say a cycle or two, but let's be honest, it's pretty hard on your body. If I decide to return to IVF I want to know that I gave my body a decent "rest". Any opinions on what is a long enough amount of time?
Thanks in advance for your feedback...

This is a really good question, and I'm so sorry for all you've been through! I had a failed IVF in April and I THOUGHT I was going to jump right back in, but once it was time to start another cycle I pulled out at the last minute. I just didn't feel ready. Now I'm planning a new cycle in January, which is a really long wait (eight months), I know, but I think I needed it.
The funny thing is that I only had one natural period in the four months after the IVF. I feel like my interest in starting a new cycle really kicked in after I started getting my period regularly again.
So I guess I'm trying to say that I think it's different for everybody, and that listening to your instincts is the best way to go. Now that I think about it, a four to five month wait would have been ideal for me, but we're waiting a little longer for financial and insurance reasons. I know I will REALLY be ready in January!
