A bit early. Christmas/Holiday gifts

...for your EI providers or therapists?  What do you do?  I'm trying to think of all the random and little gifts I need to be getting.  Any ideas or thoughts?

  • I was thinking about getting a card and maybe some holiday lotion or something.

  • Last year I did a plate of baked goods, a heartfelt card, and a starbucks gift card (just a small "thank you" balance, nothing major).

  • I am going to be making them a Friendship Soup recipe in a jar (I'll give them the dry ingredients along with a recipe card that gives them the very few ingredients they will have to provide plus instructions). I am probably going to do two different recipe in a jar things unless I find a cool toy or something they could use with the clients, then I'd do that plus the 1 jar.
  • Chris had a giant team so what we did was an edible arrangement for the center, addressed to "Christopher's Team" and a gift card and some candies for his at home ABA therapist.

It's funny.  I was just thinking about the holidays too just the other day.  For one I'm so glad that the number of ppl on his team is now smaller because it was rough last year - there was the whole team at the center (I think it was like 10 ppl), his at home therapist, 2 sets of bus driver/matrons.  Crazy!  Now it's just his teacher, 3 aides, his OT, his PT, driver, and matron.  Yay!

  • Heartfelt TY notes, and ... I'm not sure.

For the classroom teachers, probably bracelets. My mom makes beautiful beaded ones that we gave her teachers last year.

For our private therapists who are the same as last year, we'll get something different.

I'll probably do something similar to last year. I'll make some sort of Christmasy craft. And attach a small denomination gift card. I'll have 8 teachers an therapists to buy for this year. I might make several batches of salted caramels in a tin in place of the craft.

  • My husband is insisting on picking out our boys' gifts this year.  Since he will have missed out on 7 months with them this year, I think he wants to feel like he is a part of something special for them.  That leaves me feeling like I don't have presents to plan for!  I will only have two therapists to buy for, plus our sitter, the church nursery....a few other people on my life....oh gosh, yeah I have plenty of people to plan gifts for :-)  I think a card, gift card, and small token may be the way to go.

  • Last year, between my two boys' therapists, church workers, teachers, etc I had 25 gifts to make/buy!  I realized this early in the fall so when apples were cheap I made apple butter in my crockpot and canned it.  It is super easy to make and I was done was before the holidays so I didn't have to think about it during that crazy season.  It was a huge hit.

This year I've been knitting and crocheting wash clothes, scrubbies, etc.  I usually sit in the waiting room and visit with moms while my boys are in some of their therapies and I work away.  I haven't counted yet to see how many I have, I've just been making things as I find yarn on sale and have been working off and on on them all year long.  If I get down to the end and find I'm short, I will bake cookies or some other yummy treat.
