I have a RCS scheduled for 39w2d, next Tues. I am currently 3cm and the baby is high. My OB who I absolutely love and trust has offered to break my water and try some pitocin that morning to give a vbac a try. I would love to vbac but also want to have the baby on Tuesday as my sister is traveling home for the birth, so i dont want to wait any longer to go into labor on my own. I guess what I am looking for is experiences with using pitocin for a vbac. Thanks!
I had pit with my VBAC. I was 41 weeks and I was at the end of my "allowed" time as far as the hospital was concerned. It was either induction or c/s that day.
I was only a fingertip dilated and they could not get a foley bulb in or break my water. But the pit did it's job and I delivered vaginally without an issue. It took about 19 hours total from start of pit to delivery.
Is there a reason they want you to go before you even hit 40 weeks?
I had pit with my VBAC. I was 4 cm dilated at the office 5 days before my induction and 5 cm when I got to the hospital (hadn't felt a single contraction though), so my OB used a low level of pit and broke my water. She came into the room constantly to adjust the pit dosage and keep it as low as possible without stalling labor (I had high blood pressure and a history of pre-e in my first pregnancy, so delivery couldn't wait) and I had a successful VBAC. Since you're already dilating on your own you're a favorable candidate for induction, so I would try it.

This. If you and the baby are low-risk (except for being a VBAC), I would wait until at least 41 weeks before doing anything.
