Any moms who have had their mirena removed, did you start trying right away or did you wait for your first natural period?
These are all questions I'll ask my doctor when I have it removed but I'm just wondering what others did. I've had a miscarriage in the past so I'm of course a little nervous about TTC after birth control.
Re: Mirena removal - how long to wait...
My doctor didn't tell me to wait so we didn't. I got the period from hell a few days after it was out and I figured it would take a month or two fr my cycle to regulate but in the meantime I would chart and we would just go about our business as desired. I got pregnant 2 weeks later...
My doctor said to wait at least one cycle before trying in the rare case the egg implanted in the same spot the iud was, it wouldn't be good. When I got mine out, I spotted for 2 days, then nothing, then period-like bleeding (may have been withdrawal bleeding). About 24 days after removal, I got my period again.
i've been following posts on the TTC board, and it seems like some docs don't tell people to wait, and others recommend 1-2 cycles.
good luck! And it doesn't hurt coming out!
Thanks ladies.
I'm having it removed October 30 so I'm thinking we will give November a rest and really start "trying" in December.
I got my IUD at my 6 week check up after DD was born. Didn't get a period until after I weaned her at 7 months. After that I had just random spotting here and there and a period every few months. Pretty out of whack.
Hoping I go back to my 32 day cycle.
I did not have a period at all while on the Mirena. After I got it out, I went right back to my 28 day cycle, except my periods only lasted about 2-3 very light days! Amazing! (I know some are not this lucky, but I'm just here to say that it can happen!)
