Does anyone else still have a peanut baby at 2 months?

Title: Does anyone else still have a peanut baby at 2 months?

We just had DD's 2 month appointment. The shots were harder for me than for her I think! Anyways, Riley still only weighs 8 lbs 8 oz which lands her a little under the 10th percentile for weight. Her birth weight was 6 lbs 12 oz and was down to 6 lb 5 oz when we left the hospital. I was induced for high bp but only a few days early. We had to go back to the pedi twice for growth checks in the first week because she wasn't gaining and she had got back up to 6 lbs 11 oz and the pedi was satisfied with that. The pedi was fine with today's weight but I can't help but be a little paranoid. I know all babies are different but I keep reading about all these big babies on the board! It also makes me start doubting that she's getting enough from my exclusive breastfeeding again when it took a lot to gain the confidence when she wasn't gaining right away. Also, she is in the 90th percentile for length at 23 1/2 inches so she's long and lean. I am anything but lean SO just has skinny legs so its very interesting to me that I have such a tiny baby. Does anyone else have a little peanut who wasn't a preemie? I guess it would just make me feel better to know its not that uncommon. TIA!

  • Both of my girls are peanuts. I haven't had DD2's 2 month appt yet but she was 5 15 at birth 38weeks and 7 4 at 1 month. Her older sister was the same way and our pedi was never concerned. As long as your LO is gaining weight and hitting milestones I wouldn't worry at all.

  • I do with my DD at 7lbs 1oz but she was 3.1 at birth. However my DS #1 was a lot like your daughter. We had lots of weight checks & really made me doubt my EBF. I finally gave in & FF which now looking back really disappointed me because he is still a beanpole. That was just the way he is built. Me & DH were the exact same way. Not all kids are alike. As long as pedi is happy I wouldnt worry too much and really after speaking with the doctor about obese children you really dont want you 2 year old in the higher % on weight & not on height anyways.

  • another peanut here.

6lb 9 oz at birth, dropped to 6lb 1oz.  she's probably not more than 9lbs now.  we'll find out more at our 2 month, but that's not til the 19th.

  • Lila is 3 1/2 months old and weighs around 7 lbs, maybe a little more. She was a preemie and has feeding challenges. We are seeing a pedi GI tomorrow and weight is one of the issues to address.

  • G weighed 6lb, 10 oz at birth.  8 lbs 8 oz at 1 month.  We have our 2 month appt on Monday, but I don't think she has gained much.  She can fit in some NB clothes and just swims in 0-3 months.

  • Mine was born at 38+ weeks at 6lb 8oz.  2 month check up and he's 9lb 9oz (5-10 percentile for weight but 50-75 for height). Doctor wasn't worried.  I'm completely okay with it- he's healthy and I've gotten a little longer wear out of those newborn clothes and size 1 diapers than most!

  • This post makes me feel like we've got a moose on our hands. DD was 6lbs 4 oz at birth 38 wks 4 days and weighed in at 12 lbs 8 oz today. She doubled her birth weight in 2 months! She is EBF. Both of my boys grew really fast in the first year and then slowed down.
  • Charlotte is a little peanut too! It took her 3 weeks to get back to her birth weight and last week at her 8 week check up, she weighed 9lbs 8oz. She's gained 2lbs 5oz since birth but has grown 3 inches. We just started to be able to put her in 0-3 months clothes. The pediatrician said she is perfectly healthy just has a speedy metabolism. She is EBF and poops at least 4 times a day.

  • My little girl was born 6 lb 6 oz and just hit 8 lb 9 oz this week (2 months).. My doctor isn't worried, she said that my LO is putting weight on slowly, but steadily, though we are adding in a 1-2 time a day supplement of formula to see if that will boost her up at all.  We've been going for weight checks every 2 weeks (at least) since she was born, because she was spitting up so much the doc wanted to make sure she didn't slide backwards in weight.  No backwards slide, she's just a slow gainer :)
  • DS was born at 8 lbs 2 oz, was 9 lbs, 12 oz last friday at 6 weeks.  He is really slow to gain weight and is having a hard time adjusting to eating at daycare for some reason.  I can't wait for him to hit that 10 lb. mark. I'm so paranoid I even bought a baby/toddler scale on Amazon.
  • My girl is a peanut. Was 63 at birth, she was 92 at her two month appointment yesterday. Around 10th percentile
  • DD1 was always really low on the growth charts. I was always paranoid about it and her pedi finally told me he's less likely to worry about kids that start out on the smaller side than the kids that are at the very top. Not that a chunky baby means you'll have an overweight child but it can! DD2 is so different. She's a good eater and gains fast!

  • I felt the same when I was reading the post about diaper sizes! We're still in newborn everything!  Her 2 month appt was Monday and she weighed 9 pounds, she was 6 14 at birth and 6 5 when we left.  At her PKU appt she was 7 1 ounce.  I'm so glad to see other babies her size! I thought we were behind!

  • My son's long but really skinny. He was 6 lbs. 9 oz. at birth, is now 7 weeks old, and weighs 7 lbs. 12 oz.... healthy in every other way though : ) Not too surprised about it, I'm only 5 feet tall, and my husband is tall but skinny and was a long skinny baby.

  • Another peanut here too. DS was 6lbs 15oz at birth, 6lbs 9oz when we left the hospital, 7lbs 14oz at 1 month, and now at almost 8 weeks just hit 8lbs 15oz. We're slowly outgrowing newborn stuff now.

  • This post is written just in time! I just had LO's 2mth appt yesterday and he only weights 9 lbs even, and is 23 in. long.  He was 6.10 at birth and 6.3 when we left the hospital.  LO does have a heart condition so although he is gaining weight slowly they want to see a little more weight on him.  After yesterdays Dr appt I decided I was going to start supplementing a little formula into his bottles when he is with g-ma while I am working (which I really do not want to do)  Now that I am reading this post- I am not as worried and do not want to supplement again!

  • Thank you ladies! It makes me feel a lot better knowing there are so many other adorable little peanuts out there!

  • This post makes me feel like I have a giant baby. He was born 4 weeks early and weighed 7lbs 9 oz at birth. When we went to the doctor on Friday he weighed 14lbs 5 oz and was 12 weeks old, which is a corrected age of 8 weeks.

  • I've got a little peanut.  She's 22.5 inches and only 9 lbs 8 ounces (16th percentile).  DH is 6'3", 300 lbs, so I never thought I'd have one this tiny!

She just has a very narrow waist/hip area, and long skinny legs.  At birth she was 7 lbs, 2 ounces.  Doc wasn't concerned about her weight at all...apparently it's just her body type right now.

If she can keep these dimensions up, she'll be a nice volleyball player :)
