Sleep problem! Help!

Since a month ago my LO has been waking up almost every hour at night, sometimes twice in an hour! He doesn't wake up screaming and crying but he whimpers and twists his body like how he practices rollover during daytime. But most of the time he will dose off again as soon as I pick him up. Before this he had a pretty good schedule waking up for feeds only twice a night at 12am and 4am. I used to think that teething might be the cause of his sleep problem since he also started putting his fingers into his mouth but it has already lasts for more than a month and I still don't see anything popping from his gums. Is anyone experiencing the same thing with your LOs?

Re: Sleep problem! Help!

  • This sounds a lot like what our LO was doing at night. He would get up frequently and require me to put his paci back in and would still get up frequently. He has been a great sleeper up until a few weeks ago. I called and spoke to our pedi about it yesterday and they felt it was appropriate to start sleep training him so we help him develop his ability to put himself back to sleep without intervention. It was a bit challenging to not run in and help him but after 45 minutes or so of fussing and crying (with myself and my DH right by his door telling him it was okay) he put himself to sleep. He woke again at 2 and put himself back to sleep in 5 minutes. He didn't wake up to eat until 6 am! They said the first few nights would be hard...and it was. But we are going to stick with it...it was the most sleep I've had in awhile!

Is your baby around 4 months old?nbsp; Could be 4 month wakeful, or could be gas/teething/ear infection.

Yes he's turning 4mo next week but this problem started when he was 2mo . I brought him to the ped and she says he doesn't have ear infection and his gums are not swollen so no sign of teething yet so its probably the gas. But he has been gassy since birth and he has slept well until about just a month ago when the sleeplessness happen. :

That's a great idea! maybe we should also start sleep training cause right now we are co sleeping, it's much easier to breastfeed him at night. Is your LO turning 4mo as well?
