How long for background check to clear?

Just curious on others experience; anxiously waiting for ours to come back so we can meet a prospective foster child! It's been about 5 weeks since our application was submitted to the state. Tia!

    Ours took two months. GL!
    Trying to grow our family with both fertility treatments and adoption since March 2009 
    IUIs#1-4 = BFN, IVF#1 = c/p, IVF#2 = OHSS, FET#1=BFP

    We were told 8 weeks is their timeframe.  We were pleasently surprised and got an email from our agency that they received it after 6 1/2 weeks.  At one point in time I was getting anxious for it to come back, I figured it had been at least 5 weeks, since we had sent it in we had friends visiting for a wedding, we took a weekend off for our anniversary, did some improvements on our house, took about 3 webinars for our training hours, and when I looked at my calender, it had only been 3 weeks!  I set alarms in my calender to go off every weeks so I could keep track of how long it had been after that!
    TTC since June 2009 DX: PCOS October 2010
    6 medicated cycles, 2 pregnancies, 1 ectopic April 2011, Early Miscarriage August 2011
    7 more cycles, 1 IUI, No success after last pregnancy
    7/1/2012 No more fertility coverage
    8/17/2012 started pursuing domestic infant adoption!
    11/26/2012 HOME STUDY APPROVED!!!

    Our application to become foster parents gets submitted to the state with background checks and a bunch of other things.  We were told they needed 45 to 60 days to process everything.  Ours was approved on day 44... not that I was counting or anything!

    I just looked at the calendar this would be day 43 for us! Fingers crossed our clearance will come sooner than later! Thanks again for the responses ladies.

    It can vary; our longest took 9 weeks. They sent it to the wrong place. 2 days later it was in our mailbox
