Re: It's Brag Day!!!!!

  • Chris graduated from crib to bed.

Everyone kept giving us grief that we should've moved him over ages ago but his pediatrician, to his credit told us to wait for him to give us the signs - he would attempt to - and succeed - escaping his pack n' play (he is jammed in there but still loves to nap in it)  and do the same with the crib.  He's been getting in and out of his pack n' play at will for weeks but last week, he climbed over the side of his crib and there was no keeping him in unless he wanted to be in it.

DH converted it to a toddler bed and there was ONE night of fussiness and ONE night where he escaped in the middle of the night and ended up at my bedside asking for juice.  He now stays in his bed even when he's awake.  He won't leave his room.  He just hangs out.  The ped was right.  I think if we had tried anytime sooner, it would've failed.

  • C repeated 19 words at therapy on Monday. This was by far the most he has ever done. The therapist and myself were floored. None of this is spontaneous speech but its more repeating than he has ever done.

  • DD1 has been asking if she can help with the laundry -- DH does a massive folding session on Sunday afternoons. So now she knows how to fold towels and is working on pajamas. This is a big step up from just rolling in the clean laundry, which was her preferred mode of "helping" previously!

Last night she wore underwear to bed and stayed dry all night! I'm still waking her to pee before I go to bed, and sometimes she doesn't quite make it all the way 'til morning -- she still doesn't wake up if she needs to go. But she's really been determined about this and I'm so happy to see that it's paying off. I think it's really encouraging for her, and I'm thrilled to see her set her mind to something and accomplish it.

  • DD learned how to splash in the tub using her hands. This is huge and something we've been working on for almost a year.

  • Awwww!!!  That's actually one of the cutest sights to behold.  Must've been even more precious for you.
