I might be being paranoid, but I need some reassurance.
Last night around midnight I woke up and had bad cramping very low in my belly. I got up, took a Tylenol, and felt like I had to use the bathroom. So I did, and as I sat there the pain continued to build. I'd been constipated yesterday, so I thought I was finally having a bowel movement - I passed a bit of gas and a smallish bowel movement, and after that the pain gradually started to subside and then disappear entirely. It didn't come back, but I did continue to have 'echoes' of the same sort of cramping over the next half hour or so until I fell back asleep.
Now, the reason I'm concerned is because I've never had this sort of pain before in my life. It was very low in my belly, and spread across the centre, where I suspect my uterus to be. I've never been constipated before in my life, but would that create a pain like this? I'd rate it 7/10.
It has been six hours now and I have had no bleeding or spotting of any kind, have continued to be gassy and a little nauseous, and all my pregnancy symptoms (such that they are) still seem to be intact.
Should I be worried or not? I have a doctor appointment on Monday but I don't expect he'd be able to tell me much of anything yet anyway...?
Re: Severe gas pain?
The whole episode was very brief, lasting only ten to fifteen minutes from the time I woke up to the time I went back to bed. It made me nervous because it was so weird and isolated, but I was by no means in tears from it (and my pain tolerance is only decent).
It's so hard not to worry about this. I guess I will just take it easy today and watch for bleeding. Both of which are going to be very hard to do at my nanny job... sigh.
I had severe cramping during the first few weeks of my first pregnancy. I wasn't able to stand or walk when it hit me. It was the worst pain I ever felt.
The doctor had me come in for an ultrasound to make sure it wasn't ectopic. Everything was fine. The pains stopped around 8 weeks and the rest of the pregnancy was great. The doctor said it was gas and told me to cut brocolli and cauliflower from my diet.
