February 2013 Moms

It's 3AM and I'm wide awake.

I woke up in a panic thinking of all the things we have to get done before baby gets here and couldn't push it out of my mind. Now it's 3:00 and I am up for the day. I guess there's no better time to research cribs!

Has anyone else had difficulty sleeping lately? How do you cope?

  • Yep, right there with you. I have been up for about two hours now. Just catching up with posts on here. :-(

  • Yes, I was up for 2 hours in the middle of the night. I just read or get a drink of water. Usually I fall back asleep. It is very frustrating!

  • Last week I was wide awake at 2:45am....I actually went to sleep pretty early that night, so hopefully that will happen for you too!

  • I haven't been waking up early like that, but the last two nights I have had vivid dreams for what seems like hours. I also have been more restless than usual. I think I am having a hard time getting comfortable in bed. No fun, especially since we are only going to get bigger from here on out!

  • DD's the one having trouble sleeping, up every hour on the hour until 1, then a few hour reprieve before DH just brought her into our bed at 5.

Give me one night without a baby in the house and I'll sleep like the dead!

  • That was me for the longest time.  My OB said to get up and have a small snack like a granola bar or crackers, she said that waking in the middle of the night 9/10 can be fixed with food!

  • Lately I seem to be waking up around 3:30 every night with sore hips.  Doesn't matter if I stick a pillow between my legs or not.  Sometimes the pillow actually makes it WORSE.  Moving to my back makes it better, but obviously at this point I don't want to stay on my back for any length of time, so usually I end up propping myself in this weird position mid-way between side and back, with my back and hips on a 45 degree angle against the mattress.  It's a bit awkward, but it works!

But oddly enough, for as much as a worrier as I am, I haven't woken up worried in the middle of the night.  I worry plenty during the day. ;-)

  • I went through a phase where I'd wake up in the middle of the night and be up for hours. My son is transitioning to a toddler bed, so he is usually up at least once at night. If it's not him, I wake up having to pee. I have found that if I don't turn any lights on, I can get back to sleep much easier. If I can't sleep, I watch tv or some other mindless task.

  • Yep I find myself waking in the middle of the night at the same time every night, not sure what for but I do, which leaves me extremely tired the rest of the day lol.

  • I don't tend to stay up for long periods of time, but I have a hard time staying asleep.  I feel like I wake up so many times during the night.
