Can someone explain whether I need a cool mist or warm mist and recommend which humidifier you have. It's pretty cold where I live and we have the heat on already. MY dd has been waking up with a stuffy nose and I want to see if a humidifier will help. DH bought the kids line cool mist humidier but I want to see what you ladies recommend. Does anyone have the kids line humidier?
Re: Humidifiers?!
I do have a crane frog humidifier. I think it's ok but I wish I would've gotten one that has a nozzle on that top so you can aim where the mist goes. Hth!
With the crane elephant, the mist comes out his trunk which is pointed up. I usually just turn the body of the humidifier so the trunk points in the direction I want it to go.
I never really understood why cold mist is recommended, but that makes sense. I thought it was less bacterial build up, but this sounds more logical. We just have a regular cool-mist, anti-bac, filter-less humidifer from Target in the nursery, not a kid-specific one. Those elephants are pretty darn cute though!
It's also for less bacterial build up.
It is for this reason mainly. Warm air breeds germs and bacteria...cool air is cleaner and more sanitary for little lungs.
We have the frog one and like it.
If you're leaving it in the room with the child it should be a cool mist, which is most likely what you will be doing especially as they get older.
We got this as a gift and love it. It's super quiet and we've only filled it once, 3 days ago, and its still running on one tank! Also looks great with our contemporary decor, as we didn't want any animal shaped appliances.
