Need breakfast ideas for daycare

DS eats breakfast at daycare (we just give him milk when he wakes up - then there's barely enough time to get dressed & out the door).  Usually I send a banana & yogurt.  He used to eat oatmeal, but lately he won't touch it.  I need some easy healthy breakfast meals - any ideas???  What do you ladies send?  thanks!

  • We have been doing one of the Earth's Best Smoothie pouches (yogurt and fruit) and a dry cereal (cheerios, chex, etc).  I would love him to also eat a piece of fruit, but he just won't eat it.

  • Waffle and fruit

    cereal and yogurt

    waffle topped with peanut butter

muffins or banana bread (can make ahead of time) with boiled egg whites (DS will eat with ketchup)

  • We do breakfast on the run - waffles, bagel thins, whole wheat bread or cinnamon swirl bread.  I normally keep a banana or a some grapes in my bag and will throw those in if she's still hungry.  And, milk 90% of the time.

  • My DS loves these pumpkin muffins and they are really easy and fast to make. I leave off the pumpkin seeds:

  • I have an almost one yr old and I feed her a 5oz bottle before daycare and send a 1/2 a biscuit that she eats soon after she gets there. I also send a blueberry nutri-grain bar that she eats sometime during the day but that would also be a good breakfast food. She also likes the mini blueberry muffins.

  • I've been making mini muffins and the girls love them.  Do you have time to scramble an egg? Dry cereal mixed with yogurt?

  • We don't take it to day care but I do make a big batch of veggie pancakes and freeze them.  I just use the heart healthy bisquick and add pureed carrots and zucchini.  You could also try egg cups/mini-quiches baked in a muffin tin.  Google a recipe - there are a ton.  You bake an egg (or the egg whites from a carton) with veggies/ham/cheese - whatever you want.  Also, a friend of mine found a recipe on pinterest for baked oatmeal (also made in muffin tins)

How are the veggie pancakes? Right now DD (3yo) lives off of the Van's organic pancakes and french toast sticks for breakfast. She eats at home but it's while I'm getting ready and with another one on the way I'm really not going to have time to make anything fancy. She also won't eat vegetables (or anything new for that matter) so if I could sneak some veggies into her beloved breakfast I would be ecstatic!

  • What about sending frozen waffles?  You can cut them into strips or bite size, maybe with some yogurt, or a fruit. I just bought some oatmeal with sweet potato and apple in it...hoping that will give some variety to the little guy.  We also started giving him scrambled eggs, and he LOVES them.

  • I made a big batch of whole grain/flaxseed/wheat germ waffles and send 1/2 a waffle for DD.  I also send a couple tablespoons of greek yogurt and some fruit, like blueberries, peaches or pears.  This weekend I'm going to make some spinach and mushroom quiche cups (the recipe is from south beach, lol) because she loves scrambled eggs.  I'll also send a little bit of fruit with that as well.
