Winter gear - covers for strollers and car seats?

Hi all,

I was just wondering what you think of those blankets that cover the car seat or the stroller.  This is my first time, and I can't tell if those are one of those things you buy and never use or if it's really useful.  Any other tips for winter gear?  The little guy is coming in February!  Here's an example of one I was looking at.  Thanks!!

  • I don't know if this is exactly what you're looking for, but I ordered one today because the price was so good. I got a code in my email that should work for you too that makes the cover free and you pay shipping cost. So it comes out to $13.

    Good luck! :)

  • I've never heard of the one you linked but I read its for the stroller..well I'm familiar with the JJ Cole Bundle Me, they make one for the stroller. I had the infant seat one with DS and loved it!! We only used it when he was in his stroller though (not driving in the car) :] Since I liked it so much I plan on getting the toddler one since he's no longer using his infant seat in the stroller.

This one would be fine in a stroller, but a no no in a car seat. Look for one that slips over the outside of the car seat, shower cap style. The one you linked and the JJCole Bundle Me will void the warranty on your car seat and are not safe, they interfere with how the car seat is supposed to react in an accident ( no extra padding behind baby).

JJ Cole makes on called the Car Seat Cover that is fine. Walmart also has one out on shelves right now that is fine, also Baby Parka, Snugglepotamus, and Jolly Jumper make one, to name a few, all shower cap style.

Stroller - the one you listed is good, any of the JJ Cole, like arctic or urban, I think there is one by Red Castle that is recommended or some midranged to high end strollers have winter gear.

Other than that, performance fleece hoodies for in the car seat. Or lightweight knitted jackets. If you plan on walking much outside, get a snowsuit, if not, wait until lo is walking, otherwise it won't get used.

    Stop spamming the boards.

  • I used a cover made by Jeep that had an elastic bottom that fit right on top of the carseat after baby was already strapped in and zipped up.  Since we used the carseat on the Snap n Go or snapped on our other jogging stroller, it worked for both car and walks.  This isn't it, but similar:

  • Anything that goes behind LO in a car seat is extremely dangerous. The Bundle Mes should be illegal IMO. Don't buy one, please!

The shower cap style is perfectly fine and safe to use. We bought one by The First Years to use on our car seat last year. It worked wonderfully!

  • Wow, I'm so glad I asked!  Thank you so much for all the advice.  Much appreciated, thanks!!
