I'm joining the crowd trying to decide between a VBAC or RCS. It seems like the risk of "devastating effects" from a VBAC are so slim in comparison to the major surgery why wouldn't I opt for the VBAC? My first baby was breech so it was not a labor problem.
Re: Has anyone ever actually known someone to rupture during a VBAC?
Yes, someone from my local ICAN group. She did lose the baby, but it's arguable that he would have lived if she hadn't been at such a crappy hospital (very long story short, she knew something was wrong and was begging for a c/s for over an hour and the hospital sat around with their thumbs up their butt).
However, I also know that this person is in a rupture support group and that a lot of those women have babies that did survive the rupture. Also, a number of them were moms who had never been cut (by c/s or other surgery), they just randomly ruptured.
