Prenatal Vitamins & Water

Have you been taking them? Have you been drinking enough water?

Honestly do you take them everyday? I honestly could say. I know I'm being selfish but I only took them the first two weeks and stop. It makes me so sick. I drink only two cups a water a day. It makes my stomach hurts a lot as well. All I drink is just two cups of water nothing else.

Re: Prenatal Vitamins & Water

  • I take mine at night that way I can sleep through some of the nausea.  I'm supposed to have them with a meal, so I make sure to eat a little something with it.

Water is hit and miss for me.  I have a water bottle with me constantly. Today I drained it, and am going to fill it up pretty quick here.  I also drink glasses of water with meals, so I'm probably doing fairly well.

  • I take my vitamins everyday. I put them in a weekly pill box and leave it out on our kitchen counter so I don't miss a day. If your vitamins are making you sick, try taking them with food (they can upset an empty stomach) or try a different brand. It is really important that you baby gets all the vitamins he or she needs for healthy development.

As far as water goes, drink as much as you can without making yourself sick. If you don't want plain water, try flavoring it with fruit or make yourself some tea (green & white tea have very little caffeine and there are some safe herbals with no caffeine). You can also drink juices (I water mine down a bit since they are so sugary) or carbonated waters. There are also a lot of fruits that have very high water content that you can munch. Water comes in many forms! It doesn't have to be plain. Personally I like room temp water and I can't get enough of it.

     Good luck!

  • I take all 4 of my pills every.single.day and my doctor feels very strongly about the importance of vitamins. I also drink a ton of water. I love water and drank a ton even before pregnancy.
    3 ectopic pregnancies (EDD's 1/30/12-tube removed, 6/2/12-methotrexate and 10/2/12-methotrexate)
IVF and Natural FET resulted in BFN's and a hole in our wallets
Natural BFP #4 on 9/7/12 gave us our miracle on 5/18/13

  • I do take mine daily. I keep them in my kitchen in a very visible spot to remind myself.
I sometimes slack with water but really try to get a good bit in. I really don't like just drinking water, so I'll add a lemon or lime slice for some flavor. The tartness also helps with my nausea.

If your parental is making you nauseous, I would really recommend trying some other types or even the gummies. If you aren't eating a lot, the vitamin is really going to benefit you.

  • I have forgotten to take mine a handful of times, but I don't skip the on purpose.  I have been taking prenatals for about 4 years now, though, so I'm not super concerned about skipping a day here and there since my folic acid reserves are probably where they need to be.. water is hard for me but I'm trying to keep a cup with me at all times and sip on it (blah)

  • Thanks Ladies. I have a dr appt tomorrow I will talk to my dr about the pills. Also I will flavor  my water.
  • I do try to take my prenatal vitamin every day.  I was really good about drinking water during weeks 5-6, but last week not so much and this week isn't looking much better Sad

  • I take them every night. I only can drink water if it's ice cold...and it helps to have lemon and ginger in there too. Have you tried a different prenatal? Maybe the gummies could help?

  • I take mine every night before bed. The only problem is I normally drink a large glass of water with my vitamin and have to pee multiple times throughout the night...

  • Mine we're making me so sick too! I tried three different kinds before switching to Flinstones. Sounds pathetic but they are the only thing I can keep down. My doctor said they were perfectly fine. Water is hit or miss. Some days I hate it and others I chug it.

  • I do take mine every day along with fish oil. And I try to drink as much water as possible. I tend to get really thirsty every day so that doesn't seem to be an issue. My doc also said to take Flintstones if I couldn't keep others down, so maybe try that.

  • I take mine every day. They used to make me sick, but then I switched brands and I'm fine now. I also try to get the full 8 glasses a day. I bought a 750ml bottle, so I know that if I drink 3 of those in one day, I will have gotten more than enough water.

  • I had the same problem with my first 3 pregnancies! It was the worst. I just couldn't keep any prenatals down for weeks. I'm now pregnant with my fourth and there is finally a flavorless prenatal powder that I mix in with Gatorade in the morning. I haven't gotten sick ONCE! It's seriously amazing. It's called Premama Prenatal Drink Mix. You may want to check it out. Hope this helps! (and that you feel better!)
  • I usually take my vitamins with a bit of food because they have a nasty aftertaste. I have been trying to drink more water but I still feel like I'm not drinking as much as I'm supposed to be.
