Pink eye?

I was playing with LO on sunday night and I was laying on the leather ottoman in the center of the floor and he was running around it. He climbed on my back and before I could catch him he fell off and landed on his belly. He immediately started crying and after I picked him up I noticed what I thought was a broken blood vessel in his eye from crying.

Well, DH kept LO yesterday while I was in class and when I came home I noticed  his other eye also has a pretty good size pink place (doesn't look like broken blood vessel, though). He hadnt napped at all for DH and I just thought it was from lack of sleep. Well, today the whole right side of his left eye and the left side of his right eye look pink. It doesn't seem to bother him and it isn't dark pink at all. Could this be pink eye? I plan on calling his pedi first thing tomorrow. He has an appointment tomorrow but should I try to get him in tomorrow to get checked for pink eye?

Re: Pink eye?

  • I call for everything. We were actually there today because DC and I both though Em had pink eye. The doctor said if the whites of the eyes are very red and/or there is a lot of discharge, to come back. It can't hurt to call and at least as the nurse over the phone. Good luck!

  • Is it excessively watery? Or matted shut after sleeping? Those are tell tale signs of pink eye. Also, pink eye is very uncomfortable. It would most likey at least itch.

  • I agree with PP, he would be really uncomfortable. I had pink eye when I was 9 and oh my god I was miserable! It didn't start slow for me either, I just woke up one morning and my eyes were practically glued shut.

What about allergies? Or mayb he actually did hit his other eye too? DS gets all kinds of cuts and bruises that I can't figure out where he got them.
