Mouthing objects

Hi all...

I'm not on here often but I wanted to know if other moms were experiencing the same things.  My son is 4months old (18 weeks) and is not really mouthing objects.  He will stick his fingers in his mouth but he doesn't seem super interested in bringing toys to his mouth (although he will do it once in awhile).  Im trying to not be super paranoid but I read its a developmental milestone.  Anyone else experiencing this?  Thanks! :)

Re: Mouthing objects

  • DS does the same here.  He only started to become interested in his hands a few weeks ago-last week was the first time I saw him grip his toy and keep it in his hands for more than a few seconds.  He can wave it around but I've never seen him mouth it.  He's 4 months as well. I wouldn't worry about it!  DS is good with other milestones (been sitting for a while now; good neck control etc) so if he's a little behind on some things, eh, he'll catch on eventually.  Less sticky things to contend with!

  • Thanks for the reply. :):)   I never worried as much as I do now! ha... Im glad to see yours is doing the same. :)

  • You are welcome!  Raising a child has to be the most challenging, nerve wracking thing ever...I've learned to loosen up a bit (ha) after DH made me realize I was turning into one of those psycho moms that I swore I would never become.  :)

  • Don't worry!  DS started with his hands and the toys followed maybe a week or two later. Now, everything is soggy!  :)
  • Thanks ladies!!!....Tell me about it!!! Im always in a state of panic over something. ha.
  • My daughter is just starting to do this and it's hit or missmost of the time.
