Sleeping issues

The last few nights have been extremely uncomfortable!  I don't have a very big baby bump but I've been trying to sleep on my side anyway since I've heard it maximizes blood flow.  The problem is...I wake up in the middle of the night and my hips hurt like crazy.  (Makes me feel like a 90 year old woman!)  I have tried putting a pillow between my legs and it doesn't seem to help one bit.  Anyone else have this issue and manage to resolve it?  Please share your tips and tricks!  TIA!

Re: Sleeping issues

  • I got a long body pillow to cuddle up to.  It helps more than a regular pillow between your legs

  • Maybe try putting pillows on both sides of your body- sort of cradling yourself in them to take some of the pressure off your hips?

  • A regular pillow doesn't help at all but I have been using a body pillow and it has given me some relief. I still have a sore back a lot of days, though, and my hips actually ache from always lying the same way. For the first time in my life, I want to sleep on my back, and now I can't! I had always slept on my sides before but pregnancy has made me want to switch. Go figure. If anyone finds any good solutions I would be happy to hear too! I have been wondering if those snoogle pillows people talk about are really worth the EXTREMELY high price tag.

I've been wondering the same thing.  I've been considering the Snoogle or Boppy pillow but they are so incredibly expensive!  Honestly though, if I felt confident that one of them would work, I'd spend the money because these next 21 weeks are going to be rough if I can't get any sleep.

  • you guys read my mind! i was lying awake in bed last night and all i could think about was my post today was going to be what can i do to sleep better??

i am typically a belly sleeper and my bump isnt that big but it is so hard for me to sleep, very uncomfortable.

i am glad we are all on the same page.

  • YES. I was actually thinking of posting something like this today. Aaaah misery loves company :)

I have a body pillow that I use every night and I still have hip and lower back pain. And my pelvis pops in the morning when I stretch sometimes. Not sure if it would be worse without the pillow, but I'm not much of a gambling woman these days. I'm sticking with the pillow.

I try to sleep on my left side and for the most part it's fine. Not necessarily the most comfortable, but I'm too paranoid to sleep any other way! Add that on to the frequent (3-4) bathroom trips during the night and sleeping next to a wild-sleeper (fianc?) and it's no wonder I am super tired in the morning.

If you find any solutions to getting a good night's rest, please post. I'm willing to pay money at this point :-/
